Well, sort of. :P I had to shoot an interview at Storm Peak Laboratory (http://stormpeak.dri.edu/) on Tuesday - atop 10,500' Mt. Werner in Steamboat Springs. In speaking with my contact about getting up there via the ski area service roads, he had some concerns about the last 1/4 mile due to recent snow on the steep switchbacks. He met me that morning on an ATV and asked me if I wanted to ride with him. I told him I wanted to take the Escape as far as she could go and - I'm happy to report - it did very well indeed! Ford's "Intelligent 4WD" system seems to be just as good as 4x4 High was in my Explorer Sport - the only thing missing, of course, is low range.

Now, I don't have any delusions about my Escape being a wheelin' truck, but it was still cool to see what it could do in some fairly deep snow on a steep switchback. :) Here are a few pictures from the day:

One of the switchbacks. As usual, pictures don't do the steepness of the turns nor the depth of the snow justice...

Another switchback...

Such boring scenery...

At the lab - on top of the world...

Nice pics and nice to see it goes in the snow, i bet my truck wouldnt make it up that right now with my shiesty tires...You lookin into a lift kit and tires yet....May not be a wheelin rig now...but...with the contacts Matt is making at the off road store..it could be

Pictures never do justice. It looks like a few Escape mangling rocks in there too.
