OK, I realize its been several years since we've had a run of t-shirts made up. I really like my navy shirts, which is why I wear them so often that they are finally wearing out... one got some bleach spilled on it so it has a few pink spots, the other has a hole forming.

With that said, I like the idea of having some more shirts made up, if theres enough interest in it to justify ordering them.

Here are the official rules, contest will end October 31st, which should give everyone enough time to put something really great together that want to do it!

1. Shirt designs should feature the RMFTC logo, which can be obtained from Matt in either JPG, GIF, AI, or EPS formats. (I will also post links here within a few days)

2. High-resolution is HIGHLY preferred. If I have to spend days making it work for a larger resolution, then it takes away my precious time :). If you have adobe illustrator and can use that to generate the design, that would be HIGHLY preferred but I know it's an expensive program and most folks don't have it :).

3. Use as few colors as possible! Because each color adds to the cost of the shrits (not only in printing costs, but also screen set-up fees, etc.) the fewer the colors the better. Preferably no more than two colors, if you can help it.

4. Design should be something that everyone can feel comfortable wearing. I.E. no flowers, foo-foo designs, etc. It's a truck club remember.

5. Bonus if the design can feature something on the front and back (such as a front pocket-sized design, and a whole-back design for the backs of the shirts).

Just a random thought IM thinking they should have some words explaining our club responsibilities ,sort of a mission statment so people will get the right idea when they see one of us weraing on3e of the shirts kind of saves one the pain of explaining things everytime someone asks and especially the ones that dont ask and already asume that we dont respect the land We are trying to enjoy the land that God gave us to enjoy Im not very good with words so Im told but I hope someone gets the Idea

This is a pretty diverse group. I don't know if there is one single statement that could define us.

It would be cool if we could have our screen names on the front, even though it sounds expensive. Maybe wrap it under the pocket sized design Matt mentioned.

I like the big letters on the back idea. That makes it easy to spot the group when you are looking for everyone; and I wouldn't have to order the big window decal for my wife's Jeep.

I like that and would even be willing to pay a little extra for that as well.

I vote we keep the logo, it represents us and is recognizable.

One idea for the back is below the logo, rather than a statement, have it read like a shop shirt would, showing the different divisions of the group (ie. 4 wheeling, trail maintenence, tech support, etc.) Those catch my eye more than a statement does.

Oh and is there a way to order Flex Fit hats too?

Truckchick, I'm still refining the logos a bit before I post them. I had made them when I wasn't all that great with adobe illustrator, I'm lots better now so should be able to refine a bunch of them better. Anyways, just to be clear, I said you could have some merchandise made with the logo on your own, but NOT merchandise in quantities that are being resold. I'd rather not having members making money off the site, when I'm paying all the expenses of the club without making a dime.

I kinda like the idea of having peoples screen names on the shirts, unfortunately with screenprinting, the cost would go up pretty substantially. I'll look into it and try to get some quotes though.

The idea of having names on the shirts would be a possibility, but I think what we'd have to do is have the shirts screenprinted/silkscreened in bulk and then offer to have the names embroidered on the shirts. Reason is silkscreening/screenprinting the bulk of the cost comes in with the screens that have to be individually set up and some places charge upwards of $30-40 per screen, unless you order like 150+ shirts with the same design. That's also why multi-color designs get to be so expensive, because for each color, they have to use an additional screen, so lets say you have a 6-color design, thats 6 screens x whatever the screen charge is, and that's only per side... if you have 6 colors front and back, thats 12 screens they have to make. I'm going to try to check with some shops that do screenprinted AND embroidery and see if they might be able to make us a deal.

Truckchick, I'll e-mail you about the hats.

In the meantime, for anyone wanting them, here is the logos. The .ai file is Adobe Illustrator so unless you have Adobe Illustrator or certain versions of photoshop, you won't be able to download it, but the JPG is available for that. If you do have illustrator and wish to have the fonts as well, let me know. For right now this AI file has the text converted to outlines (if you use illustrator you might know what I mean). Most companies that do decals and embroidery and printing prefer graphics in AI format because its vector-based so much easier to resize without degredation of quality.
Adobe Illustrator Format - text converted to outlines (http://www.rmftc.com/RMFTCLogoOnly-outlines.ai)
Adobe Illustrator Format - text still in font form (http://www.rmftc.com/RMFTCLogoOnly.ai)
JPG Format (http://www.rmftc.com/RMFTCLogoOnly.jpg)

Disclaimer to downloading - Graphics are provided for use of the t-shirt design contest only. Other use is strictly prohibited, unless ok'ed by Matt. Printing items with RMFTC logo for commercial or profitable gain is strictly prohibited.

Two options with the shirts. One is Cafe Press. I've made shirts there for the last 5 years for the gear testing group I work with. They are nice.

http://www.cafepress.com/bgt2007
http://www.cafepress.com/bgt2006
http://www.cafepress.com/bgt2004

They are cheap and easy.

The other option I willhave to email my brother about, but he had shirts that had his club on the back and names on one of the sleeves. They were standard T shirts and he had a black one. If my brother was buying it they were pretty cheap. He is a broke college student.

Lemme Know. I wont have access to my image design stuff though till Jan when I get back. Email me if you need something. bkodriver (at) gmail (dot) com

Yeah I know about cafepress... not sure though, $20+ for a shirt seems a little steep. Would make it easy for me though! LOL.

cafe press is a bit spendy, thats where Colorado drag racing shirts come from

yeah cafepress makes it very easy for those selling the shirts because they handle everything from the storefront, handling inventories, to taking the orders to making the shirt to shipping it out, without requiring any minimum quantities, but they really charge you for it. A basic shirt for $20+ with only a few bucks going to the club seems like a bit of a rip, though it would be easy for me, heh heh. I don't mind some extra work to help club members save more money (plus then we can get dark colors, which you can only get through cafepress for certain things and even then they charge you up the butt for it)

I have ordered a few things from their shop.... not worth it... granted they give you the options for a larger area to get the logo on.... i still don't find it worth it. I am not a fan of their screening either. My jacket/ hoodie I got made.... the screen was almost completely faded with in 6 washes. wasn't to thrilled about it.

Well the standard T shirt was 18 bucks on that site and thats after mark up. I have had a shirt for over 3 years now and the screen print is fine. If ya'll are getting shirts cheaper than that, let me know. My group doesnt sell that many shirts so its great for us. We dont have to have the money up front, and we dont have to order a large amount that are going to sit around. I change the shirt designs yearly, and add a date.

Well what I did last time was I had people pre-pay for the shirts they wanted to order, that way I wasn't left with a huge bill and no way to pay it. I had Gildan Navy shirts done with one color designs on front and back, and they ended up being, after screen charges, tax, etc. about $6.50 each. The shirts are an awesome quality, much better then even the beefy-t's that I had run in the past (I have done several shirt orders through the FTW CO Chapter, Explorer Forum, etc.) and I was able to charge $10 per shirt, and still have a little money left over to help pay for some of the costs of the site, as well as donating some of it to MaxFund. I over-ordered about 5 shirts of each size, and just recently sold out of them, but I wasn't trying really hard to sell them either.
I'm sure the costs have gone up since then, as everything else seems to have, so I don't know if I'd be able to sell them for $10 again or not, but hopefully it wouldn't be much more.

here is what ya get for 19.99 (20 bucks) plus shipping through cafepress
they have hooded sweatshirts that are almost 30. I might buy one because I want one but I do think they are pricey

I hope somebody is working on a design... deadline is coming up!
Otherwise its back to the simple RMFTC oval (which I am totally fine with but wanted ot make sure if people wanted something fancier they could get it).
I am also doing a shirt order for maxfund, and will be taking pre-orders for that order through November. Perhaps I'll do the same here, take pre-orders for the shirts and have the run of RMFTC shirts done at the same time as the MaxFund shirts, so I can get better deals on the shirts :). This would also allow people some extra flexibility as far as sweatshirts, hoodies, long-sleeve shirts, ladies shirts, etc...
