OK, body shop says no longer then 3 weeks to get me my truck. The weekend after this, I need to be on my way out to Las Vegas for the SEMA Show. So who is interested in helping out October 23rd? I will have a long list of things to do for the truck, the most basic of which is putting things back together. i haven't decided yet if we'll be doing the lift or not (I plan on taking this to a "shop" more then likely so I can just take pictures while its being worked on and not feel like I'm helpless, after all, I'm paying for it to be done! LOL) but there will be other projects, like installing the body bushings, putting the roll-bar back in, installing bumpers, and doing any assembly that needs to be done to get the truck back to "shape". Let me know if your interested. Unless someone has a place to volunteer, we can probably do it at my folks house.
I'll provide beers and food and such for those helping out.

I'll put it on my calender and make it a top priority. Unless, by some miracle I have a job that makes me work that day, I'll help out.

I am more than willing to help out, and I will also take the whole day off so I don't have to leave early, but I need to know for sure that it will be on the 23rd. Let me know asap.

well heres the situation... the lift/gears/body bushings will likely be installed the preceeding Wednesday-Friday at Off-Road Innovations. That will leave Saturday for the rollbar, brushguard, bumpers (if I dont have them on by then), bumper cover, airdam, lights in the airdam, and nerf bars. Sound doable? :)

Walking Eagle

How have you liked dealing with Off Road Innovations? I'm probably going to stop by there this Saturday and talk with them about a couple of things.

mattadams
10-13-2004, 05:29 PM
so far, they seem really pleasant. We were talking about the labor job they are doing for me and they basically said, we will take as long as it takes to get it perfect, but we won't dilly dally on it either, which is what I like to hear. Plus they are doing the whole gear/suspension/body bushing/etc. install for about $400 less then 4-wheel parts.

Walking Eagle

That's good to hear.

yes, the bike mounts will be an extremely strenuous, 5-minute job.

10-14-2004, 10:03 AM
we will also be replacing the carpet in the truck... which should be fairly easy, because most of the interior is already torn apart.

CNTRYCOWBOY

Massive amounts of beer drinking????? or will that be before we work on the truck? Matt whats your call?

Glass
10-15-2004, 06:22 AM
WOW, and you just ordered new wheels....we could have made some custom aluminum wheels for you out of old Pabst cans or something...those would have been an eye catcher...
I might have my 53 car up here by the time we get together to put your truck together, and since my tranny is just about out in my truck, and i cant trust driving it...i might be driving that instead...(unless i pull off a miracle in cming across a rebuild kit i can afford, and figure out how the eff to rebuild a tranny)

LOL i'm ok with a little beer drinking while working on the truck, but not too much, remember, a scratch on the truck right now would screw me over, so we have to try to be as careful as possible.

crazy rob
10-16-2004, 05:13 AM
How long do you think you will be working on the truck? Just want to make sure when I get done with work and start heading over people will still be there.

mattadams
10-16-2004, 10:18 AM
I'm not sure... depends what all projects we have to do and how many people show up. I already decided I'm just going ot have the shop doing the suspension do the body bushings, and possibly the nerf bars... not real sure yet, they said they'd do the nerfs for practically nothing since there doing other stuff too...

mattadams
10-16-2004, 02:12 PM
just curious, who would be able to make it on Sunday, instead of Saturday?
Possibly complications...

Walking Eagle
10-16-2004, 02:17 PM
As we all know I'm no help anyways when it comes to mechanics, but I will not be there with the camera either as we (Cory and I) will heading into the final full week at work before the election and it's crunch time.

CNTRYCOWBOY
10-16-2004, 04:46 PM
I can make it either day

mattadams
10-16-2004, 07:50 PM
well, heres the situation... I thought truck would be out of the shop this weekend, and get it into off-road innovations on tuesday, have it done by the weekend... situation is, it is "scheduled" to be out of the body shop on Wednesday, so whiel I'll try to get it out of the shop on time, it might not.

Either day works for me.

mattadams
10-17-2004, 11:19 AM
ok, well after thinking about it a bit, I think we'll still go ahead and start this on Saturday... I think what I am going to do is wait until the following week to have the suspension, etc. put in. Because two and a half days may not be enough for them to do their thing, so I will schedule the Suspension stuff for the following week. Of course that is the absolute last week it could get done, because I'm leaving either late that Saturday or early that Sunday for the show. I'm confident they can get their part done in time though.

10-17-2004, 12:28 PM
As long as you post pics before you leave. I was hoping to see the finished product in person.

mattadams
10-17-2004, 12:34 PM
Don't worry, there will be pictures :).
Of course the way its going right now, if even one project ont he truck takes much longer then i'd anticipated, I might be asking the folks at the shop to work some 14-hour days or something, LOL!
Maybe we can all do something the Saturday before I have to leave for the show. Then everything should be complete, and I'm leaving early, early Sunday morning I think.

mattadams
10-18-2004, 09:09 PM
OK EVeryone, the meet is still on! As of right now, things are on schedule to get the truck re-assembled this coming Saturday (and Sunday, if necessary), so hope to see everyone there!

Strippers?

mattadams
10-19-2004, 01:37 PM
For those considering coming out... the address we are meeting at is 4476 W Ponds Dr., Littleton CO 80123. This is my parents house, so just remember to be respectful and limit swearing and stuff (they are a godly house! :)). I am planning on getting started around 9 or 10 in the morning on Saturday, and I will go as long as needs be. If there is too much to do, it will probably carry over to Sunday as well, but depends on what projects we decide to do, what projects I decide to let the shop do, and problems we come along with, yada yada.
See everyone there :)

MMPC
10-19-2004, 01:49 PM
So evidently Tray guessed correctly since Matt didn't say no! WOO HOO! Strippers! :D LOL

mattadams
10-19-2004, 01:59 PM
It'll be at my parents house, and I don't want either of them to die of a heart attack so, no strippers, LOL. The suprise of seeing my truck (they still think I'm just getting the body work done and having it painted back to the teal color) will be a big enough shock for one day.

Matt!

I am going to try to attend .. but can't promise anything . You see - I just received a letter from my wonderful new HOA stating they were not happy with the stain on our fence we erected a few weeks ago. They request that I either reinstall a new fence or powerwash the existing one (with the hopes the existing stain would come out). Since I don't think I can remove the existing stain .. it looks like Daddy Dave gets to come up with his own fix! - we never stained the inside of the fence ( I didn't have the energy.. ugh (150+ feet of fence ya'll!) ...

so we sent them an email saying if they will allow us to .. we are going to turn every board around - leaving an unstained fence to the outside and we would seal it with a clear coat.

Long story short .. I have a feeling - in one form or another .. I'm going to be working on my fence this weekend ! AAARRRGGGHHHH

live and learn!

but I do want to try and stop by .. see the truck - grab my sheet and buy that extra grill from you ..

so good luck ! and I hope to see you this weekend

D

install rollbar (priority 1)
Hook up power sliding rear window, not sure what all is involved but we can't finish up other projects until this is done (priority 2)
Install front and rear bumpers, bumper pads, airdams, and associated lights (priority 3)
If carpet looks fairly easy, we'll go ahead and pop out the seats, replace the carpet put the seats/interior/door trim, etc.
Some other interior work, assembly, etc. as required.
