My other machine that's pushing 10 years old and still works great needs to go into the shop for a tune-up/refurbish, which takes upwards of 3 weeks...and I've got some projects that I'm being PAID to do that are just sitting! Yep, I actually get paid to sew, mostly clothes and accessories (costumes, baby gear, etc.) and I'm doing a steady flow of commission clothes for a local singer (www.pairadeux.com (http://www.pairadeux.com))
So...here it is. Yes, I know I'm a dork because it's "JUST a sewing machine", well y'all are "gear heads," this is my "gear head" moment! :p

thats cool, everyone has a hobby, some are cooler than others, I always thought seamstresses were important because everyone wears clothes anymore
I have a friend runs a few industrial type machines for making car and boat covers custom made, she is working on my seat for the 64 as well, experimenting with a one of a kind idea, hopefully she will get time this fall to finish it so I can post pics

You mad BECAUSE everyone wears clothes now-adays? :)
And those industrial machines take skill to run, they'll sew through your fingers if you're not careful!

Ok I have to ask, can that machine handle canvas? Some day I will own a sewing machine because I hate working by hand.

That one can't, but I think my other one (that's going into the shop) should. If I had a scrap or 2, I could test and see. Whatcha need?

if you really want one...sure! I'm making the kiddo an Ewok costume for Hallowe'en.

But of course! :) I told Slag that for our kiddo's 1st Halloween, I'd make him/her an Ewok, well last year didn't work b/c Jaina wasn't even walking, so our "Trick or treating" went to Grandma & Grandpa's house. This year, will be much more fun. Now just gotta work on MY costume...I  Halloween!

That's cool. I have four sewing machines, all ancient. Two were grandmothers and are in their own stands, one is "portable" and rests in a case for use on a table top and we have a huge industrial one that's supposed to be able to sew tents and seats and stuff....................... I'm not sure how to use any of them... But I'm a junker, so its cool and I will learn to use them someday. :)

I have this crazy idea of making some canvas walls to install under the tonno cover on my truck so that when I pop it open it creates an instant tent. I have been pondering this for several years and some day I will actually do it. It would probably be better to use a ripstop nylon but the non sewer in me seems to think canvas would hold up better.

Hmmm....*thinks*....I can't offer any suggestions one way or the other. I LIKE the idea though. Would haveta ask my auntie on that one b/c I've never used or worked w/ canvas vs. ripstop.

I've always said I want to get a good bigfoot costume made up, I rented one one time, and it was way too small, but was still a huge hit (til I got schnockered and puked all over it, LOL). I might take you up on it at some point, right now the funding to even allow for it, someday though :).

Truckchick, I have no idea where I'd find the furry fabric but I'd have to guess it'd be fairly high. Wifey knows some basic sewing and is learning more, but is no seamstress...

*gasps* Bobbi has GIRLY habits?! :p If you want to learn more quilting, hit me up...that's what I do 99% of the time. I machine piece & hand quilt. Cross stitch/needlepoint frustrates the F--- out of me b/c I can quilt for 2 hrs and have a dozen-ish blocks whereas x-s or the like I've got 3 inches. Meh.
Fuzzy Fabric - it can be found really anywhere, I saw some at Hancocks & JoAnn's yesterday & today. it's what I'm using for Jaina's costume. It's like fur-type stuff with a bit stiffer backing. The usually upwards of $10 a yard so Matt'd need quite a bit.
Matt - I take payments :D And you can tell Courtney that I give basic sewing lessons too

yeah, clothes are overrated what happened to the old fashioned streaker?
them industrial machines are big space takers too, huge ass tables surrounding them, like a giant table saw with a different feature lol
