I work downtown and see examples of corporate stupidity all the time. But nothing sickens me more than the construction and destruction of offices. At least for today anyway. Its probably because I'm a junker at heart and can't see letting things go to waste if they can be used again. Here's an example that I KNOW could and probably HAS happened in real life. A company signs a lease in a hi-rise building. They couldn't possibly have the old layout of the offices, so they tear out everything to the exterior walls and completely rebuild the floor to suit them. New wall studs, all new wiring, new HVAC venting, new appliances, light fixtures, ect. ect. ect. Then for whatever reason they don't move in. The next company signs a lease to move in to the space... Do they look around and see that everything is BRAND NEW and decide to save some money and move in as it is... Of course not! They tear out everything again and rebuild it! It would be too much to ask that they deflate their egos a little and adapt to the existing office area. (seriously, have you ever seen THAT many different configurations of office space. Open area... cubicles, offices on the exterior walls... thats about how it goes in every office you walk into downtown.) Ok, so what started this rant is that there is a walk in construction dumpster between 17th and 18th and Larimer where they are doing teardown on a suite in my building. over the past month I've watched as it gets filled up with the usual construction stuff. Metal wall posts, HVAC equipment, lights, ect. Only thing is, ALL this stuff is NEW! It doesn't even have dust on it from sitting around. All the HVAC ducts were shiny, the lights, large office style flourecent units clean and dust free ect. Then yesterday I pull up (I catch a ride to work in the mornings) and there is several panes of glass in the dumpster. These are the thick kinds like they make office doors out of. probably close to a half inch thick and 4x8 ft in length. or close to it. Probably close to a thousand dollars in glass and its just going to the dump. Then today I pull up..... AND THERES A DISHWASHER THE DUMPSTER!!! The thing looks brand new! No scratches, no dust, nothing! You can't tell me they couldn't have used a dish washer in their current configuration of offices! And then everyone wants to bitch about how prices are sky high! If I'd had a truck I would have hauled off with it on the spot! Ok, I'll get off the soap box, this rant has gone too long anyway. I just think its disgusting to let things like this go on.

Where is this dumpster? I could use a new dishwasher for the house. If you see a fridge, let me know so I can snag it too!

We have rebuilt the inside of our building at least four times in the six years we've been there. During that time we've added, then later torn down offices, built air conditioned rooms for equipment, and I almost forgot remolded our kitchen a couple of times.

There is also a big market in recycling and reselling the materials you see in the dumpsters. All of our stuff we buy has been recycled. We buy used office desks, cubicles, glass, flooring, lights, etc. for our building.

Like I put in the last post. The dumpster is between 17th and 18th street on Larimer. Its open during the day and as far as I know, once it hits the trash, its considered public property. But don't quote me on that. I'll post again in the morning and let everyone know if the washer is still there. If nothing else, someone pick it up and drop it off at my house. :)

The door was closed this morning but by peeking in it looked like it was gone. I couldn't tell about the glass cause it was against the wall I was peeking into. Damnit! Stupid Contours can't carry anything! I need my Explorer and a utility trailer. :)
