Ok, while I was up in Seattle I bought a Dana 60 for my '89 F250. I want to swap out the front end asap (the truck currently has a Dana 50 IFS), but I am buried at work after being out of town all of August. Anyone interested in changing this out for me for cash?
I have a shop available with a pit in the Parker area and I have a compressor and all of the air tools. I bought the Dana 60 complete from hub to hub with leaf springs. I may need a new drag link, but I will get all of the parts there. The truck is not a daily driver, so if it takes a couple of weekends, no problem! Also, I'll take it in for alignment after the install.
I'm available by email at: rsimpson35@msn.com or by phone at (303) 944-8282.
Thanks!!

I would but I dont really have the knowledge. If itw as just take one out, put new one in I could probably handle it, but if it involves any custom fab, nope!

There is an article on the FTE site in the Tech Section about this swap. It's mostly bolt on. The article indicates a little grinding, but nothing major. I am actually leaving my leafs on because they are lifted. So basically, it's drop the drive line, disconnect brake lines, disconnect and remove the steering linkage, unbolt the U-bolts and then set in place the new front end and start hooking the new steering linkage back up. I will have to have the drive line shortened, but I can find time to put that in.

I've never done anything like that, but certainly have the time and could use the money.

Here is the link for the tech article, take a look at it and let me know what you think.

I think I could do it. I know enough technical help if I were to run in to any problems. Shoot me an e-mail. clavos21@hotmail.com

A little off the subject, but what are you planning on doing w/ the old axle? I'd be interested in it!
Thanx,

This can't be that tough..... Come on, if I can do a 2wd TO 4wd conversion on my crew cab by myself then this should be cake and I didn't have a article and I did this in my driveway in 2 weeks with working 2 full time jobs...
Oh, and Mind_Boggler, don't worry I haven't forgot about you.

I had planned on putting the old Dana 50 on E-bay just for kicks. If you know someone who could use it, I'd let it go cheap.
