I know this is real late information, but tomorrow morning Cory and I are going to Slaughterhouse. I’m meeting Cory at his place at 8 am and if anybody wants to try it out, meet us at the Conoco at C-470 and Hwy 285 exit at 8:30 am.

I’ll be leaving my house at 7 am and I’ll check back here to see if there are any posts from people saying they will be at the Conoco.

There isn't a Conoco at 285. I bet you are thinking of the one at C-470 and Morrison Rd by the entrance to Bandimere. Anyway, I'm going to a thing at Phil Long with the Co. Powerstroke Club. Maybe do some networking and get a job. I guess if I can't seem to find work at a Mercedes shop I'll lower my standards a touch and start hitting the Ford dealers.

Thanks for the clarification about the Conoco. As Niels pointed out there is not a Conoco at Hwy 285 and C470. We will stop by the Conoco at Morrison and C470.

Got home about a half hour ago. A long day. Oh where to begin.

First off, Slaughterhouse makes Bill Moore Lake feel like a gravel road with a few washed out areas. Slaughter was about as much as my truck can handle. Slaughter makes a loop and we happened to take the hardest part early this morning, which turned out later, to be a good thing. I pushed my driver side step up under the truck, so my foot will not fit on the step. I almost knocked myself out literally. I hit a mud hole and took a couple of good bounces while I floored it to make it through, but I got stuck. When the truck came to a stop I slammed my head into the top of the door. The left side of my face instantly went numb, my left eye closed and started to twitch and the left side of my mouth felt like after going to the dentist just after the Novocaine. I started to freak out and it scared the shit of me. I opened my door to get out, but could not because I was stuck in mud. Thankfully this only lasted about 20 seconds.

Cory pulled me out and from this point on I took easy with the mud. Cory was doing some crazy stuff. At one point his driver side front tire came about 3 feet off the ground and I thought he was going over. Cory decided to go through the mud hole I got stuck in, which he had done earlier. He ended up breaking his gear box and steering pump. This happened around 3 pm and was toward the easier part of the trail. He could not go anywhere and was stranded with wife and kids. I took off for the nearest auto parts store, which turned out to be near Kipling, because the one's I found in the mountains were all closed. Anyways I picked up a gear box and drove back to the trail which is about 30 miles one way. The Bronco was put back together around 7 pm and we started to head for pavement.

About halfway back to the road, we came across a few vehicles going in the same direction stopped. Cory walked up to find out what was going on. Some idiot in a full size custom van had driven on the trail. He had skirts on the van, low profile tires, custom paint, etc. He ended up getting a flat and did not have his key for the tire lock. Cory used on of my sockets to break the lock off, they borrowed my floor jack and got the tire replaced. Finally we got the heck out to the highway.

At the end of the day it still was a blast with a good story to go along with it.

Wow, glad you're okay. Sounds like the trail lived up to its' name! :D Good stories are always nice to have 'round the campfire (or the Hooters table)! Pics look like fun...

Here is video from Slaughterhouse. As of right now, there is no audio. I think I may have killed the sound card on my computer. I'll look at it tomorrow.
