Okay, I'll edit this thread once we find out what weekend will work for the most attendance. Out of the 3 weekend choices, Please vote in the poll & we'll use the winning weekend for the event.

Here's the info below minus the dates.................for June '07

6/?/06 thru 6/?/06, Fri, Sat, Sun.

This is a Camping/Wheeling weekend event. The trail run through Chinamans Gulch will be on Saturday 6/?/06 at 9:30 at the trailhead. The camping trip starts on Friday 6/?/06 whenever you can arrive. If you can't camp, please join in the fun for the trail run on Saturday & BBQ afterwards.

Camping will be at the same location as last year.
It is located off of road 308, 6 miles east of Johnson Village.

To get to the camp site from the front range, take 285 (from the Denver area) or 24 (from the Springs) to Antero Junction (that's where 285 & 24 merge together).

From Antero Junction on 285/24, drive approx 6.5 miles & turn left on road 307. It's a dirt road. Follow it about 3/4 mile, on the left will be road 308. Turn left & drive in about 1/4 to 1/2 mile. The camp site will be on the right side of the road. It's primitive camping, no facilities available but it's free. This site is 6 miles from the Chinamans trailhead.

If venturing from west of Johnson Village, stay on 285/24. Head east about 5 miles from Johnson Village. On your right will be road 307 (307 runs along 285/24 & has an east & west entrance) stay on 307 for about a mile & turn right at 308. The site will be in about 1/4 to 1/2 mile on the right. When on this section of 307, you have access through private property, please stay on the road & don't stop. It's clearly marked.

The Chinamans trailhead is off of road 301. Take 301 south off of 285/24 for about a mile. There is a green gate on the left. Open it & drive through & please close it after you're through it. There is another gate at the trailhead, please open & close it too.

I'll be BBQ-ing http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v320/Warrlord/Misc/bbq.gif burgers & dogs like the two last years after the trail run on Saturday.

Make plans now to http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v320/Warrlord/Misc/tent.gif for the weekend. It's free camping.........not a campground (no facilities).

It's a family event so don't be afraid to bring the youngins

Like last year, I won't be able to make it Friday night, because I get out of work to late. I'll be at the trailhead Saturday morning.

I'm there, I think I know where this campsite is as I've been there before. Its a large field with an awesome view of the Collegiate Peaks range, correct?

Are we actually going to do a night run this year?:p
And June, what is with that? The chance of snow is pathetic in June!

Beleive it or not I was up in the high country this morning(3/9/07) and was trying to get through about a foot and a half of snow(in the trees and where the snowdrifts were). It was that sugary snow that doesn't pack down. With the warm weather we have been having it shouldn't be much longer till all the snow is gone though.........

Larry, I know I kinda bailed at last year literally that Fri. But I would really like to camp and run it with you guys this year.... as long as I can solicit some spotters. ;) Because I would definately need some. My truck is same as two years ago plus sliders and some armor (although not enough yet). Chinaman's scared one of my buds, so I may be solo this year. Now that I'm done with school, I should be frequenting the boards more :) (In case no one remembers; I'm the guy with the white sport trac that you all spotted, pushed, and prayed my way through Chinaman's 2 years ago  ).

Well now that you have sliders you have no problem making it through.

I dont know, those flexable nerf bars gave him a little more clearance when needed:thumbsup:

You will have plenty of spotting help, heck I have been trying to get my fat butt in shape so I can run more of the trail this year

Thanks. I did one thing right with the sliders... the outriggers (round tube) are angled up at about 45 degrees with the square tubes above the level my old 'curb-feeler' side steps were at. Hopefully I maximized my already challenged ground clearance.

I'm excited. :)

Becker, I think you passed me today (judging by the pics of chinaman last year?) Does your sport trac not have the plastic rocker panels on it anymore?

I'm getting ready to do the first oil change on the new engine(500mi) the only thing I have had to fix is a broken exhaust mount. I don't really care if I break anything(yeah right Im the voice of reason) cause I have the new axles to build...........Oh yeah I carry spares also.......

No I don't currently have the grey (tupperware) rocker panels on... I've been too lazy to put them back on since I am trying to decide how I am going to finish my sliders. I'll have to keep an eye out for ya! :)

I have the blue bronco with no front bumper, and the big ol dent in the passenger side. I'm usually headed down arapahoe if i'm going anywhere, rarely down smoky hill

Dude it was really cool and random to run into you today! I'm stoked to meet a member of rmftc without having wheeled with them! :) :) I'll look forward to camping and/or wheelin' with you on the Chinaman's run (I have to see about my armor and if other are really willing to infringe on their time on the trail dealing with my rig! ).
