Alright, seriously, this is pissing me off. Normally we get some snow, then it warms up... then it gets cold, snows some more, then it warms up... it hasnt warmed up in over a month. I'm still looking at much of the original snow from the blizzard in December. I left my gloves at my parents house and I'm sick of not being able to feel my hands after walking the dogs. I'm sure my heating bill is going to be astronomical. Where is this global warming I keep hearing about. Apparently it's not doing shit!

AMEN!!!
Normally I don't mind the cold and snow - partly b/c I'm a farm kid so "needing the moisture" is all good. But with having to schlepp a baby around I'm sick of it too. Having to bundle her AND me AND carry all her gear...plus worry about her getting frostbite or super chilled...or slipping on ice while carrying her...which I've already done twice (at the DMV and eye doc)...oy!

Al Gore needs to open his mouth again, then it'll warm up. That explains why they haven't had winter out east, he's been in NYC for the past 3 months!

I haven't had a winter like this for a long time. I have been having fun with all the snow and all the moisture can't hurt when summer rolls around.

Hey I live in Gunnison so no one has any room to talk. Try -25 for about 2 weks straight at night if not more plus it not getting above 0 for a week. Plus this is all from global warming. lol

Well it has been a fun morning! I started Naomi at 6:15 this morning so she could warm up gently. Well 6:25 I am sitting at a stop light a block from home and all of the sudden I cannot see anything in front of me because of the fog....oh wait, there is no fog this morning! Spin a quick 180 and drive home as fast as I can pop the hood and sure enough, the hose that feeds coolant to the turbo has gone nuclear and is spraying coolant on the turbo and header which I might add are very hot because they were allowed to warm up :p Now I am freaking out because I still have to get to work and I do not know if I have any spair hose. A quick inventory of spare parts shows that I have every size hose except for the one I need. At this point I figure it would be a good idea to call work and let them know I will be late and then I start looking around the engine bay for any thing I can rob from to patch things up. The best I have is part of the crank case ventalation system and is down right nasty on the inside but beggars can't be choosers so it will have to do. No sooner do I cut out the 6 inch piece I need and start installing it I get a call, we are not working today because nothing was called in:rolleyes:
So now here I sit waiting for the parts store to open hot coffee in hand.
Looks like I will going back out to Maxfund today!

at least you didnt have to work that isn't bad nice start to the weekend.
Blah, blah. In August Matt will be saying - "DAMN, WHAT'S WITH ALL THIS 90-DEGREE WEATHER???" :p
No, I agree - it's time for a change. I want to get out there and ride my bike, dammit! It also wasn't much fun loading a truck with heavy broadcast gear last night at 11pm downtown...

Its colder than a witches you-know-what in a brass, lacey under-garment! It makes me glad I work inside. Waiting for the bus last night sucked. If it wasn't for my thick layer of insulating blubber It would probably be worse. :)

I'm beginning to wonder why I left So Cal. Traffic- snow, traffic-snow, 2 hours on the warm and dry 405 don't seem so bad right now.

I find the global warming thing interesting. It would be ironic if the US was the benifit of it and places that hate us are worse off.......
I remember when I was very young people would talk about the next ice age.
I watched the Al Gore's movie and the thing that I take from it is how much the worlds population has increased lately.
You know that Yellowstone is due to blow also.....
Well I went out to start the Bko this morning and it was so cold (-22 according to my expy temp gauge) that it killed my battery. I got about a split second of life from the guages and then nothing. I bought one of those new fancy Die Hard batt chargers. Those things are sweet. Gives you a DC volt meter and something to check the Alternator as well and % of battery charged. Also gives you 2, 12, 30, and 80 amp charge settings. Got it at sears for 70 bucks. They said they were phasing out the older metal ones.

I like the ability of plugging the truck in at night, warms up much faster in the morning when I use the remote start.

Funny stuff guys...good thing I love being outdoors.
So some of you know that I work on rail-road cars, some of you know that I test and repair air brake systems. Sometimes that means getting out the soapy water and looking for air leaks. During the winter we switch to soap with windshield washer fluid because water freezes to the cold steel. When the soapy windshield washer fluid hits the steel and instantly freezes, it's officially cold enough. That hasn't happened yet. Close on a few days, but not enough to shut me down.
I will say that the cold seems to take more out of me lately.

I use to hear stories from my grandfather about the cold when he worked for the railroad companies in northern Minnesota. That was some crazy stuff.
