A group of people I know are going to the dunes up in Walden over labor day weekend, this page has all of the info about the trip, i plan on trying to go. If anyone else is interested, it should be alot of fun.

Sorry, I don't see the information to click on. I did not know there were dunes near Walden.

I won't be able to do it over the holiday, but I'd be interested in these dunes you mention.

that would be fun... a little too far for me to travel and I still don't have a truck, but looks like fun. I remember seeing some videos from an ex-buddy of mine that went wheeling down in that area a few times. Dunes can be lots of fun!

Sounds like a blast. I'd have been there all the time while I was up at school in Fo Co, had I know about them. My Bronco loved the sand.

Hmm, I wonder if I can talk these guys into an official trip out to Grand, Routt, or Jackson counties. Would make it a business trip, and I may just happen to need an extra day to get back.

I’m with Tray, I wish I had known about the dunes when I was going to school in Ft. Fun. I can’t believe I never heard about the area.

I think taking a 7500 pound truck with stock tires out on the dunes would result in a lot of digging and yanking to get back out again. I don't think I would try it without a winch and at least two other trucks to anchor to.

im thinking ill have to run my tires with some low air pressure, and if i get stuck, looks like im gonna owe someone some beer....Im even thinking of trying to find some 16" or 16.5" ( I have a set of 16's and a set of 16.5's wheels for my truck) tires with a pretty damn big surface area before i go up there, just to increase my chances of breaking something on my truck, instead of just being stuck..

My ex-girlfriend lived in Walden years ago... I have been there and yes they are a blast (that was also years ago LOL).

I would be interested in going to this. The tires I have on my truck now (38x15.50x15 interco TRXUS) would do a nice job in the sand dunes. I'll have to see if time will allow me to do this. :D
