Information Copied from Colorado Association of 4wd Clubs Website
Nov 21 Christmas Caravan - "Toys For Tots"
Time: 8:00am to 3:00pm
Loc: Buckingham Square Mall
1306 South Havana Street
Aurora, CO 80012

Host: Colorado Association of 4WD Clubs

** The Colorado Association of 4WD Clubs Raffle Vehicle will be given away at this event. **

Bring your Rock Rods, Trailer Queens, and Daily Drivers along with a new unwrapped toy to Buckingham Square Mall for donation to the United States Marine Corp's "Toys for Tots" organization. Meet at 9:00am at the Westminster Mall, Colorado Mills, or Super K-Mart at Arapahoe Road and I-25. From these locations we will caravan down to the Buckingham Square Mall at Mississippi and Havana and meet in the parking lot.

The following was added Sept. 17th:

9 News coverage:
Nick Carter will do 4 live remote broadcasts from Buckingham Square. He will do a 4 minute spot each half hour - 2 minute interviews and 2 minute weather forecast. We have moved up the departure time from the caravan sites for two reasons:
To help accomodate the expected increase in attendees and get everyone parked at Buckingham Square
To facilitate better TV coverage. Nick's producer wants to have 4 different focal points each of the live broadcasts and we want to have a butt load of vehicles present everytime they conduct an interview.

From what I gather, they just had their first official meeting in the last couple of days for this years event. There is supposed to be more vendors donating to the event. One 4x4 shop from the western slope area is giving away a late 90's model Wrangler away through a raffle.

That's awesome, I'll have to see what I can do to get some work people interested in donating, so I can bring lots of toys :). I'm sure I'll be there!
Thanks for finding the info!

Just a heads up. Last night on television, I saw a commercial for Toys R Us. They have a sale for certain brand of games such as Melton Bradley where it’s two for the price of one. I don’t know how long the sale lasts.

That event was so much fun last year and I'm sure it will be much much bigger this year. Last year I went with a bunch of Jeeps; very unfortunate. :D

This looks like a pretty neat ordeal. My mom loves to shop for little kids' toys, so maybe I can get her to pick some up. Hopefully I will be able to make it. I like helping with these types of charities.

I just talked to the spousal unit and it looks like we are in!

We are going to both talk to our offices and see if we can't get enough donations to fill the bed of the supercrew with toys!

Can't wait to see ya'll there...

I went out over the weekend and picked up a bunch of toys for this! Some art supply stuff, some toy truck/car sets, a fireman set, some sidewalk chalk, some uno cards, stuff like that.
Can't wait for this event, hopefully weather will be cooperative this year! Hopefully we can make a good showing!

So are we going to get together at one of the sattelite locations and cruise over as a club or what?

mattadams
11-11-2004, 09:28 AM
Actually I was thinking it might just be easier if everyone were to meet up at Buckingham Square. Last year we all met at the K-Mart down south, but for the people up north, that was driving too far, yada yada... plus the "convoy" was a hassle, I think it'd be easier just to meet at Buckingham Square. That's just my take though. What does everyone else think?

Walking Eagle
11-11-2004, 11:14 AM
I disagree and I'm one from up north that has to drive south to meet everyone. I think they want everyone to caravan to the Buckingham, so they can control the entrance into the mall. They are supposed to be chaning the caravans this year and have done a walk through to hopefully make it easier this year. Plus, once at Buckingham, we will never find each other with all of the vehicles.

mattadams
11-11-2004, 11:23 AM
ahh I see... well that sounds good to me too, either way :).
Hopefully the weather will cooperate this year.

crazy rob
11-11-2004, 02:49 PM
I just hope this time there are police taking charge of the caravans and stopping traffic. Last year having dinkum almost slamming into another vehicle wasn't the prettiest site to see or was it Dom, i can't remember for sure but I knew that a couple accidents almost happened.

CNTRYCOWBOY
11-11-2004, 04:46 PM
I didn't go last year but jen was driving my truck. Was the truck almost in a near death experience that i haven't heard about? or was it dinkum?

mattadams
11-11-2004, 04:50 PM
Since there are more people up north then down south, how about we meet at the westminster mall location? That might work the best for the most folks...
Dom, jen showed up late as I recall... I think it was dinkum. There were several near collisions on the convoy though, poor Maggie was riding in the back seat of the truck and I slammed ont he brakes and she got launched into the dashboard, but she took it like a trooper, LOL.

crazy rob
11-11-2004, 05:38 PM
I don't want to be the party pooper but if your going to start off at westminster location, I'll just meet you at buckingham. Sorry it's just I fear the bronc will not make it that far, or for that matter me trying to drive it that far.

cory
11-11-2004, 06:38 PM

Matt, I bought a trailer to tow your truck to the mall. No charge.

clavos
11-11-2004, 07:10 PM
I'm good either way. If we don't caravan, we'll be parked all over the place instead of together.

mattadams
11-11-2004, 08:02 PM
oh brother Jeff... you know I've ben using my truck as a daily driver since it got done right? LOL.
I'm fine with any of the locations, just figured north might work best. But then again, we've got the guy coming from Castle Rock (I think) so South could work too?

Walking Eagle
11-12-2004, 08:30 AM
I'm coming from the north and lets just meet down at the southern location.

mattadams
11-12-2004, 02:34 PM
Alright lets make it official then. We will be meeting at the south location, I-25 and Arapahoe at the Home Depot parking lot.
I let the Dodge truck World guys know and they are planning on meeting there as well.

11-12-2004, 05:59 PM
Sounds good to me.
BTW - where is Buckingham square?

Walking Eagle
11-12-2004, 06:05 PM
Buckingham Square is at
1306 S Havana St
Aurora, CO

But, make sure everyone meets at Home Depot on Arapahoe east of I-25 at 8am, then everyone caravans to Buckingham where we meet other people from 2 other locations around the metro area.

WOW
20 toys huh, I feel kinda bad, I only have 5 or 6-- I hope that's alright.
There isn't a minimum toy count is there?

crazy rob
11-19-2004, 09:45 PM
No!! there isn't a toy count. As long as you bring some toys. I was lucky enough Jeff had some extras last year. Thanks again Jeff.

Up2myLbowsNmud
11-19-2004, 09:56 PM
Oh I love toys! This is so exciting! :D

mattadams
11-19-2004, 10:01 PM
I will have extras this year if peopl eneed them too. There is no reason to feel bad about the number of toys, the fact is everyone has different resources, and just the fact that you are using some of yours to help the kids is what counts.

y33dave
11-20-2004, 08:04 AM
Oh shit ! I didn't want to make anyone feel 'bad' about the number of toys we are bringing !! We went for Quantity ... i.e. .. we bought a bunch of $1.99 toys!

We are also doing this to hopefully teach our 3 year old a little something something about the Holidays (that it aint just about HIM! LOL)

Now on an even better note .. My wife and I posted a copy of the information from the RMFTC Calendar page about the Drive and a BUNCH of people chipped in ! About $200 bucks ! So - We are gonna hit Big Lots again and get MORE toys ... therefore .. if someone wants to grab some outta my truck before the caravan you are MORE than welcome!!

I LOVE IT ! I'm writing this as I look out the window and watch it snow before a holiday event ..what could be better?

See you guys tomorrow~

Dave, Kelli and Nate

mattadams
11-20-2004, 08:34 AM
Dave, thats awesome to hear.
Also, just a reminder to those purchasing toys. If what you are purchasing requires batteries, try to include some batteries, either by taping the packages together or something, because remember, if they dont have money for the toys they probably dont have money for the batteries. I was reminded of that because one of my co-workers bought some AM/FM sport radios and taped 8-packs of AA batteries to the back, and that reminded me... :).
I think its great everyone is helping out and I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow! Even if I have to drive through 6" of snow to get there, and stand around in the butt-ass cold weather, LOL.

11-20-2004, 09:18 AM

As soon as the laundry is done, I'm going out to do some shopping. I beat the crap out of my mom and stole her ATM card. She's one person I can outrun, because I tightened the bolt on one wheel of her walker and the wheel does not roll very well. Now she just goes in circles.
