View Full Version : What do the WORST DRIVERS drive?
No, this isn't intended to start a "men vs. women" war. I'm more interested in what kind of cars seem to have the worst drivers. The study of demographics can be quite interesting - and accurate. In general (there are exceptions, of course), certain types of people tend to gravitate towards certain cars.
Examples:
Pricks drive BMWs
Moms drive minivans
Wealthy people (or wanna-be's) drive Mercedes
Guys driving lifted trucks are overcompensating for something...
ONLY KIDDING on that last one!!! :D:p
So - what do lousy drivers drive? Well, in my opinion it absolutely has to be Subaru! In my experience, they are the slowest, most erratic, least intelligent drivers. That the majority of them seem to have come from Boulder doesn't help.
So - what's your nomination for the worst drivers...?
PLEASE NOTE: "Whatever Chris drives" or "Ford Escape drivers" are not acceptable answers.

I have to agree on the subaru thought.
I've said it for years that subaru drivers are either driving fifteen miles an hour under the speed limit in the fast lane or they are driving 15 miles over the speed limit and cutting people off weaving through traffic.
My other worst driver cars are
entry level luxury cars. The cheapest lexus, bmw, mercedes, ect. The kind very young office workers and such will buy when they want to look like they are executives but don't quite have the paycheck to support it. They seem to be the ones who will cut into traffic, cut you off, run lights... Basically anything that says "I'm too important for laws to apply to me."
After that, working downtown, I would have to say its a toss up between cab drivers and bike riders.
The cab drivers think all rules of driving and parking shouldn't apply to them. Bike riders bitch constantly about how we should learn to share the road, yet I've never... NEVER seen one obey ANY traffic laws.
They ride the opposite direction down one way streets, blow through stop signs and red lights, weive through stopped traffic and between cars instead of waiting their turn like everyone else and hop on the sidewalk when it suits them.
The next would be motorcycle riders, specifically sport bikes. The oldsters on cruisers tend to be ok, its the pack of 5 to 20 young idiots playing around on public streets that make me not feel the least bit sorry for them when I come apon an accident scene.
And hey! What this about lifted rigs? I AM compensating... Thank you very much. :)

I would say I've had the worst luck with expedition and other freakin huge SUV drivers, usually its a mother struggling with her family of 8 while trying to drive down the interstate going 90 miles an hour.
Next to that, I'd say Lexus's though I've never noticed an exact model or anything. Usually they are just the type that won't let you merge, act like they are the only important one on the road, etc. And when you flip em the bird, they dont even give you the respect you deserve and instead ocntinue to ignore your presence.

hmm...dont diss on bikers!
but i would have to so the worst drivers are those really cheep rice rockets, the ones done really really poorly aka different paint jobs, ugly spoilers...you know! they drive around with their ugly neon colors sounding like a baby crying blasting their rap music and when they stop at the red light next to me they sneer at my lifted ford....

Hands down Toyota Camry's, Corolla's and 4 cylinder Honda Accords. They cut me off, glare in the mirror and flip me the bird, then proceed to drive 20 mph under the speed limit and glare at me when i pass them in the Bronco. Others are rich business men in their BMW 740CI's on I-25 south of I-225 and are too busy yelling at their wives because God knows what.

I would go with the little cars. They go in and out of traffic on the interstate during rush hour and don't really gain any ground. I try to give extra breaking distance during rush hour, because it's hard to tell when traffic will come to a stop, but the little cars keep pulling in front of me. One of these days I'm going to take one of these fawkers out, and it's going to be my fault, because I was following to closely.
This morning I saw and Expedition towing a trailer, large enough for a vehicle, zipping in and out of traffic. These people never really gain any ground when traffic is only going 30 mph.

the little cars keep pulling in front of me
That happens to me too. If traffic is moving...........I blast 'em with the train horn & that scares the crap out of 'em. If they're still in front of me at the next stop, they probably still get scared because I can pull up so close that my front bumper is over their trunk lid :D
The majority of those kinda drivers seem to be in little itty bitty shitboxes...........dunno why that is?
and yes.............I am compensating :D :D

The cars that have the gold "A" on the back, and the pearl paint job. I think the advertising calls them "Accura", but we know better...ASSHOLE!
IMHO Volvo drivers are compensating, and rightly so. I think they drive Volvos because oversized Buicks are getting hard to find.
Sometimes people get nervous when they see me buckle up. They ask if my driving is really that bad. My reply is that "this helps my next-of-kin get a better settlement from the insurance company." They honor my request that they also buckle up. :D

Granted I drive an SUV (when I can get it away from the hubby), but I'm not playing "own the road" with it. My hatred is people who tailgate. Gee, I can only go as fast as the one in front of me. That's why I have a sticker on the back bumper that says, "If you're gonna ride my a$$, at least pull my hair." :D
I have a HATRED for cab drivers...2 wrecked cars here in CO and both caused by cabbies.
Going to school @ Metro, I'd see all the little wanna-be "rice" mobiles, so I'd just quietly take a box of Minute Rice and put it on their hood or trunk. Yes, I'm evil that way!

Hey!!! You're confusing 'Squids' with sport bike riders. A 'pack' of them playing on the street pretty much means 'we're looking for p*$$y, not riding'. Although, a pack of cruisers, pulling away from every light paddling like mad cause they don't know how to balance their bike pretty much says the same thing to me...
However, the worst have to be Volvo drivers. "I'm in the safest car on the road, so I don't have to pay any attention to driving". Seems like the marketing has worked, since Volvo drivers seem to not care whether they drive for shit cause they expect to survive any wreck.

I would say that all drivers piss me off! I guess I just don't notice the others that drive well.
I have the most problem with 5th wheel gravel truck drivers. I have seen them go 80 mph in 55 zones and I have been tailgated by them for no apparent reason. They never clean the rocks off their chassis and when they go over bumps the rocks always end up on my windshield. I will say that they have to put up with all the drivers mentioned in this thread so I guess I would drive like that too.:(

A couple of weeks ago, I was headed home from work. It was about 2am, and I was going west on Hwy 36. The speed limit is 65. I was moving pretty good and a tanker truck (I think for Shell), flew by me. He was doing well over 100.

i once went to school with a guy who had a little Plymouth Colt (the Geo looking ones) and he used to cut me off like mad, pissed me off cause i was driving a car at the time. So in December i bought the Bronco and told him that 1 my bumper was messed up when i bought it and the license plate bracket cost $30 at Burt Ford and i wasnt afraid to loose $30 on having fun running someone over. He cut me off once, i let him look at the chrome in the rearview mirror and he never cut me off again. I am not compenstating for anything, however, i have always wanted a full size.... but i still back my Camry/Corolla arguement. Remember that post of the mustang and the light pole, caused by a Corolla.

I think the worst drivers are usually the ones who overslept by 15 minutes, alonng with girls putting on makeup in the rearview mirror, whatever they may be driving.
But if it's true what they said about the guys compensating, maybe I should jack it up another couple inches! LOL!

the owner operator i used to drive for had some pretty big trucks. it was great fun to wind it up way out on 80 in Utah and listen to other truck drivers freak out on the CB when you blow by at a hundred plus.
