Hello all, I'm pretty new to the 4x4 scene and Colorado, and was wondering if I could get some recommendations on where I could take my truck to play in the mud.

It's an 01 F-150 4x4 S-crew Lariat. Only susp mods are Rancho RS9000 shocks and BFGoodrich All-terrain TA/KO tires.

Wow, brand new truck and wanting to get it dirty already, LOL! Welcome to RMFTC! Maybe Cory and Jeff (Walking Eagle) will chime in with some good mud spots.
Nice truck by the way.

Welcome to RMFTC. This time of year, most of the wet spots are dried up, unless you happen to be in the right area after a rain storm. The climate is arid and areas dry up fast. One area I have not been to and would like to try out before winter arrives is near Nederland in Boulder County. It's not muddy, but there is a nice small lake crossing. The trail name is called Coney Flats. Here is a link to good write up on the trail with pictures.

Welcome to the club, and nice truck. I saw that you are into autocross in your profile. If you want to ditch the truck this weekend, the multi-car club has the track at Second Creek. Bring your check book and helmet and turn some laps. Might be the last chance before Second Creek closes for good.

Again, I've never been there, but a maybe something your interested in.

Thanks y'all.

I've been doing some research on trails near Denver, and I think I'll try Caribou Creek in the next few weeks:

Anyone ever run it?

I'm a bit leery of going on a trail my truck can't handle. I'd like to avoid rocks if at all possible and stick to the mud puddles. :P

My fiance and I are actually taking the Subaru to a rallycross at Watkins Motorsport Park this Sunday. :)

Where's Second Creek? Road course?

No, I have not done Caribou Creek, but as you have read, it's supposed to be easy to moderate trail. I believe some people even do it in the winter when it's a little tougher, but not hard.

Second Creek is a road course near DIA. Its closing due to the new houses going up in the area and the noise complaints that arise from that. Hopefully a replacement will be built on the East side of DIA. Current plans call for a 2.44 mile road course with potential to add a 1.5 mile track and an autocross pad.

Hello and welcome to the club. :D If you want to spend money on your truck and get it dirty, you've come to the right place! Actually there are only a few "hard core" wheelers here, mostly just people who enjoy gettin' out there and having fun!

Why?

Cause his old mechanic got sick of crap falling on him whenever he was doing even the simplest of things under there like an oilc hange, and he was forbidden from doing it more... LOL.
Either that or the wifey said no, I dunno.

I never knew that track was called second creek. I drove by it every day on the way home for nearly a year and a half. I did notice yesterday however that you have to take a detour to 104th to even get there now. Must not be too long before it's slated to be closed huh?

There is talk that we may be able to use it next summer, but nothing official yet. Can I still get there taking 96th from I-76?

Tray

Yeah, you can. You have to go past the 'Street closed' sign and ignore the detour stuff, but you can get there from the west.

Thanks Tray. I wasted 12 years of my life putting signs like that on the road, I should be a pro at going around them. LOL...
