Well, my carb started to sputter on me tonight, then idle rough, then start to die out whenever i slowed down, sped up, stopped, idled.... I took it all apart, checked the floats, they are where they should be, i sprayed the whole thing with carb cleaner, got some junk out of it, changed jets and rods back to what they are supposed to beat this altitude, for this engine, and now it will run great once i get to WOT, but getting there, it will sputter, backfire, and want to die out. Any hard acceleration before 3200 rpm, and it wants to die out, slow acceleration, sputters, idles just fine...these backfires were pretty good uns too, they lit up the cab of my truck...any suggestions???Any ideas???any thoughts??? thanks

I know the theory of a carberetor, but am lacking in experience. Happening suddenly like that, it could always be you got some bad fuel. It sounds more like you are getting too much air since cleaning and changing jets seemed to have solved the idle problem. I would keep trying to adjust the air/fuel mixture but it sounds like you know more about the beast than I do.

you might check your fuel filter. it sounds like the fuel flow is not keeping up with demand when you get on it.
