Heres an interesting situation i've found myself in...
About a year ago, my sister got pregnant from some guy she met in Greece, who lives in the states, but they were both there serving in the military. Long story short, she's got a happy healthy baby boy and the two are getting married coming up in September.
Here's where it gets tricky.
Apparently he lives in Pennsylvania and they are getting married in Colorado. none of his good guy friends are able to make the wedding. As brother of the bride, I've been "elected" (without my permission) to be the best man. I've never even met the guy before. The first time I meet him will be the day before the wedding.
How is any best man supposed to toast at a wedding to THAT???
"Yeah Jerome is a... guy... who knocked up my sister a year ago... I just met him yesterday... best of luck!"

Is this thing going to be video taped? It sounds like it could be interesting.

You know you're always getting hosed!!! First off you're stuck with friends like me and Chris and now this!!! Man... Anyway, like I said last night... Go for it and make sure that Chris is there taping all the action...
Sounds like you may need to get started before the toast.    :drunken:
Then it'll surely be a very heartfelt touching speech.

To make this fun allow each of us to submit a line and you piece it together. Then you have your toast. I know I could come up with something heartfelt.

Ding, Ding, Ding.....
Hey everybody! Thanks for coming to the wedding! As the best man I wanted to Toast Jerome and Sarah. Jerome has been a big influence on Sarah, as we can see 'Pause and look at baby  ?' and if she likes him then heck he's alright with me! I know that you two have had many great moments together 'Pause and look at baby  ?' and it looks like it will be many many more years of that!
Best of luck Eh!
Or something like that???

My brother won't be attending as he will likely be in Iraq at the time.

AGain, it will be a very conservative wedding... LOL. No booze at the reception, no swearing allowed, minimal dancing, yada yada
No swearing aloud, or allowed?
I guarantee there'll be some, just may not be audible.

Sounds like a hoot of a wedding. So, is it the best mans job to hold the shotgun or the father of the bride? Maybe you and your dad could switch off. LOL...

So what do you guys think of this toast?
Greetings Ladies and Gentleman, I'd like to thank you all for attending and hope everyone is having a good time. My name is Matt Adams, I'm the best man and I am Sarahs brother. Before we do anything else, I'd like to take a moment to thank both of our parents, who have no doubt put off retirement for a few more years for this special day.
Typically the best man's toast is all about the groom, how I've known him for many years, all the great adventures we've had and how the bride's entrance into the relationship will only make our friendship better. In this situation, I have to break the "tradition" and speak only about the bride, because I first met the groom yesterday. Many of my earliest memories involve Sarah. Playing house, walking to school each morning, teaching her how to drive a stick shift even though I was only 15, and ultimately, being present for her wedding. In regards to marriage I think back to a memory from when I was about 6 and she would've been 7 or 8. This story involves you Jerome, believe it or not because as much as I hate to say it, you were not her first choice for marriage. Back then, there was a handsome young football player, and Sarah confided in me that she would love to marry him someday, little did John Elway know! While her first crush may have been John Elway, now that she's met her real love, my sincere wish for the both of you is that you be friends to each other as only lovers can; and may you love each other as only best friends can, and may for better or worse be far better than worse.

Much more serious than "Yeah Jerome is a... guy... who knocked up my sister a year ago... I just met him yesterday... best of luck!", but not as comical. Sounds like a great toast, have a good time, and best of luck to you, your family, and your new extended family aswell..

Looks good, Matt! I hope the few changes I suggested to you via IM help out...

Well in case anyone was wondering the toast went over really well. Everyone laughed at the little jokes and almost everyone came up to me and said what an awesome toast it was. Even the pastor preciding over the service said it was one of the best wedding toasts he'd heard. I made the bride and my mom cry, and several other people said "your toast made me cry and cry and cry..." LOL. I even got a little choked up when delivering it, which I think is what caused some other people to cry, cause its like yawning, its contagious.
You big softie! LOL. Glad to hear it went over so well...

Who did I make cry at your wedding? LOL. I just remember me getting choked up. LOL
In fact it was funny, the beginning of this toast began "I told the bride and groom before the wedding, that I have been a best man before... and I had a really nice speech written up, and they got the beginning and the ending of the speech because I got too choked up" LOL.
