Well, after the big floods downtown a month ago, I lost my OEM horns.

Well, I went out to Checker and picked up a $20 Freeway blaster to replace them. It worked decently for almost a month, but then with those big storms a little over a week ago I now have a non-functional horn again.

Don't get me wrong, it's not completely dead, but considering I cough louder than the current output, I think I'm in need of a new one.

I'd love to have a set of those PIAAs they had on display at truckfest, but I'm saving all my $$ for the big window decal, and can't really do it right now.

Anyone have an extra set of functional horns laying around they'd be willing to part with for a decent price?

Oh - And I'd like to give special thanks to the FedEx guy who was driving the wrong way down Grant (one way) this morning. Had it not been for trying to wake your dumb ass up I wouldn't have known that I'm again without a horn.

I've got the stock horns I pulled off my truck about two weeks ago. You can have em.

Sweet Matt, you da man.

I know you guys are going up camping this weekend, but how about picking them up next weekend?

ok. I might have the hood available by then too, not entirely sure though.

That'd be perfect if you did.

I suppose I could just wait until you had both ready to meet up too.

Assuming I can stay alive until then :)

It's amazing how many people I've see nearly drive off the road at night on my way home from work. Especially considering that I really only see about 5 cars on the entire drive home.

By the way, are you planning on using the hood, or just using it as a sample for testing out body work on? If your not going to use it, I might be cutting some holes in it, about 1" by 1" where the wiper nozzles went in.

Well, it was going to depend on how well my first attempt at my little project went. If things went well, I was going to try and smooth/fill so that it would actually be usable. If I screwed up, then it was going to be for test purposes only.

Since you are being so kind anyway, if you need to remove the nozzle mounting holes with a little rim around, go for it, it's yours. I'm sure I could fill them back in if I actually succeeded anyway.

I'm actually going to stop by Pull-N-Save on my way home.

$1 admission + $1.49 for a horn will be cheaper than driving all the way down to your place, with the hopes they have something to fit.

I'll keep you updated if I find anything or not.

Well, I ended up picking up a set from an older Mercedes. They are disc horns, so I'm hoping that without the direct path for water, they may last a bit longer. I still haven't had a chance to try them out, but unless I can't get them working, I think I can pass on the others. Thanks though Matt.

I'd really love to move up to the PIAAs or Hellas , but 1.50 vs 60.00 is a no brainer in my current situation.

Mercedes horns sound good, and my dads car has 215,000 miles and no problems with the horn.
