On a 98 F-150, is the fuel pump inside or outside of the fuel tank?
Thank you.

A lot of the older Fords have 2 fuel pumps, don't know about yours though.

I've heard of people putting in a new inline fuel pump for performance reasons, its one that goes between the fuel tank and the engine. But its a supplemental fuel pump, it doesn't replace the stock one, basically gives more gas for better horsepower. If the one in the tank is bad though, the supplemental one won't work either. The fuel tank is a fairly nasty job, I've heard the easiest way to do it is to take the bed off. I was actually thinking of replacing mine while my bed is off getting the body work done, just so I dont have to worry about it going out, then undoing all the work yet again of rollbar, toolbox, bed, etc.
We put one of those inline ones in a Mustang a couple of years ago. I would highly suggest against it. It took countless hours to finally get it properly working. Well, the girl we put it in for was notorious for not watching that little needle that slowly glides from F to E. Well, after 2 times of running the tank dry, the aux pump died. Warranty denied as it requires a constant supply of fuel, or it will burn itself up.
