First off let me say I'm pleased with how the club has grown since it started only a few months ago. I hope to see it grow a lot mroe and have many more active members.
Seems the site has been doing so well, its been consuming more bandwidth then I originally planned, so the cost of the site is going up a bit. No worries though, its nothing unbelievable or anything.
Would you believed that for a database size of 3 megabytes, we used 1.6 gigs of bandwidth last month? Technically, about 300 megs of that was me, LOL.
Don't let that sway you from telling your friends and being as active on the site as you can though! :).

Sounds like a bunch of techno gobbdeligook to me, but I too am glad to see the club growing!

So what have you been doing with all of that traffic there Matt? You running a porn server behind the scenes?

So how are they calculating everything? Are they including the offsite linking as your bandwidth?

offsite images are not included in the bandwidth total, as those are being access from another location. However, all the thumbnails, images, smilies, etc. are loaded each time and over time, that just bogs resources. No biggie though.

Yeah, I was moderating a site a couple of years ago, where the server would trap and release all images, which made all of the offsite links take up our bandwidth. It ended up making us cut out all html altogether, in order to actually run the site.

I know I use a lot of the bandwidth as I go back and read all of my brilliant posts.

Well as Jeff admires his own brilliance, i was wondering if some small donations from the members would help??? I can't donate much but if a bunch of us made $5 or $10 donations would it make a difference???

I'm not saying you're asking either, I'm saying that I'm recomending that the members that can, do... Its understandable that not all members will have that ability at this time and I don't think they should feel bad or made to feel bad if they can't/don't...

Oh and Jeff... Where are all of these brillian posts??? I want to read one... The only one I can remember off hand is where you got your lifted truck stuck on a little rock... And I don't know about everyone else but I wouldn't necessarily call that brilliant... LOL...

Donations would always help. I'd be the first to admit that! LOL. So far I'm at below break-even for the year, mainly because of some bum stickers that I replaced because the first ones didn't work well, yada yada, but still working on getting that straightened out...

So my question is this ..

which is better ?

buying merchandise (ie.. stickers, mug, shirt) or a flat out donation ?

if donation is the way to go ...

post your paypal info and I for one will send off some money!

Dave

or better yet .. if you win the pot at poker .. it all has to go into the club fund

Me personally, I would rather people buy stickers and so forth rather then flat out donating. It means less money towards the site (since "profit" on sitckers is about $1/per) but it also increases the chances of growing the site, ie if people see the sticker and decide to join, etc.
Like I've always said, I am definately not here to make money on the site. I would rather see it grow to a community where people hav efriends all over the place, a good group of folks they can hang out with, work on trucks with, etc.
My paypal information is posted on the merchandise page... http://rmftc.com/merchandise.html

Heath--If you are talking about how not all the letters come off of the backing, I too had that same problem and was like sh*t!!! I had to "manually" take those letters off and pray that they ended up where they were suppose to and that the spacing wasn't off. I got very lucky and you can't even tell.

My banner seemed to work out ok, but then I had an expert install mine.
