Okay, I need a new 5.8 ghz phone for home... I don't want 2.4 because I have a wireless network here at home... I need it to have the ability to use a headset as well... I'll be working from home in the mornings here soon so I need something that I can call clients on... I'm looking to spend $60 or less...

Any help???

TIA

Heath

We picked up a pretty sweet pair of them from Costco a couple of months ago for around $100. I'd imagine that a single would be around what you're looking at.

I don't remember the details, but it's a Vtech, and came with a headset, belt clip, and seems to be working great so far. The only negative I've run into so far is the small phone book size. I have to whip out my cell phone to find some numbers sometimes, but I guess it's tolerable.

I too have owned a VTech phone when the 900mhz phones first came out. That was one good manuf. I would surely go back to them for new phone purchases.

yeah I remember seeing the 5.8ghz at Costco as well... unfortunately since I just have one phone other then my cell phone, I haven't looked into any "pricy" routes. I wonder if a 900mHz would work? Might save you money as well. I know my parents had a 900mHz for years at their house with no problem. Granted they couldn't walk around the block with it, but around the house it worked fine.

We just got some new phones at home. It's a cool setup. When I get tonight I'll get the brand and details. It may cost more than what you want.

Here's the link from Best Buy, but it's a lot more than you were expecting. It's cool, because all you need is one jack in the house and then you can add additional cordless phones with recharging stations through out the house as needed. Our's covers three floors with no problems, and all handsets have caller id on them.

The one I listed above can also be used as an intercom with the other handsets. Comes in handy with mom.

Now when I'm hiding in the basement, she can still find me. "Jeff, I need cup of crushed ice, and 8 grapes." Then I'll ask anything else, and this is what gets me everytime. She says no. When I get to the top floor, oh I need my medicine, or can I have 2 crackers. $@%^$@## (I keep this part to myself).

Sounds like the same setup as the Vtechs we bought, just a lot pricier. Ours only uses the jack in the kitchen, and has the intercom feature, caller id, blah blah blah.

Wait, wait, wait - Heath and Tara throw away boxes??? Then what was all that crap we moved from Colorado to Idaho??? LOL.

I'll second Matt's suggestion for the 900MHz. Sure it's not "sexy" or the "latest thing," but they also work. As I told you during one of our conversations on the subject, Heath, I have one of the first-generation Uniden 5.8GHz phones and it SUCKS. The range is LESS than a decent 900MHz and there's no battery meter so, when it starts beeping for a recharge, you've got about 30 seconds to haul ass to a landline.

One last comment on 5.8GHz (if you still choose to go that way) - when you're looking, make sure it's true 5.8GHz. When I was looking, I noticed many of the phones received on the 5.8GHz frequency but transmitted on 2.4GHz. Freakin' cheaters...

Well my experience with the current 900 mghz one kind of pisses me off, thats why I want the 5.8 one... I'll have to see what they have... I've had 900's before and they were fine... But if this crappy 900 is what the rest of the industry is doing then it won't work out for me...
