Yesterday and today Cory had been working on a snorkel for his truck. He initially checked out prices from different manufacturers and they wanted about $300. After a little research, he decided to build his own. Including the cost of an Airforce 1 air filter ($50) for a F-150, the price was $75.

The last touch is to add the cover over the filter.

It's pretty impressive in person. It's bolted nice and tight to the truck. I could picture it in my mind what his intentions were, but it came out looking better than I imagined. He said the Bronco is even running better.

I know I had wanted to do a snorkel on my Explorer because like your Bronco, it was my wheeling rig and I did occasionally go through deep water crossings. Unfortunately on the Explorer there was no place to go through the fender because of all the extra engine compartment crap that you don't have. Looks real good though. Did you reroute your diff and tranny breather tubes as well?
nope theres plenty of room under there for even more junk. i have my tow chain on one side and the snorkle on the other.

Well plug that hole up tight...LOL Because I could see someone shoving crap down that pipe and then it will all be over once it hits your carb.

Hey Matt- I hear ya about puttin a snorkel on the ex, but I just don't want to cut through all the crap to get a pipe through. There are quite a few on the explorer site that have done it though.

yeah, I've seen it done. It was too much work for me and it was all custom work since no one makes a kit or anything... plus my explorer was my daily driver so Ic ouldn't really park it for a week while I moved things out of the way, fabbed a kit, etc.

I'll admit I laughed at how dirty Cory's engine looked when I posted the above pictures. But to my surprise tonight after work, we popped open my hood and to my embarrassment mine was looking worse.

That's supposed to be an Airforce 1 chrome intake and all of the caps are supposed to be blue.

So where's the how-to??
I'm sure there's someone out there dying to cut a hole in their fender.

yeah, send it on over!
Of course it'll only work for the bronco more then likely but would still be interesting :).

Let me touch it up and I'll send over later tonight.
I'm sure it'd be pretty darn close to the same for the pre F150s.
Who knows, maybe it'll attract 20 new members looking to do the same thing.
if you have a torch it will fit.

Cory helps me out with truck quite a bit and I trust the work he does.
Buttttttt! I always keep an eye on him, because if I left and came back later, I would be missing bumpers, fenders hacked off, and probably have a convertible.
But at least he couldn't make it any dirtier than it is........

I did get the how-to for the snorkel. I haven't had time to get it up yet though. I will soon.

I figured being busy over the weekend, it would be a few days before you would get to it.
