SO, it's on it's way.................I found it on ebay( I know, I know) but it was a steal. Plus everything in the front end now will bolt in place...........locker, gears, etc. I also found a spring shop in Grand Junction, that alot of wheelers in Moab use when they've got the money. So I'll probably be doing the SAS this winter, unless I can't wait anymore, and get new custom leaf-packs made with SICK flex.:headbanger:

You will love the solid axle. I think I doubled the life of my tires since I got rid of that stupid IFS/TTB setup. It could sure flex but I am a poor white boy so funds to buy tires is hard to get. I did mine in my garage in a weeks time frame with working on it a couple hours a day and on the weekend.
Also, from what I read and hear, stay away from the Fabtech SAS kit that they make. I hear nothing lines up right, all metal parts are cheaply made and don't hold up well to abuse. The track bar is the hardest thing to fab up but it can be done.
Here is a pic of my truck. I need to get off my lazy :bootyshake: and take some new pics.

I have a gallery on Fordtruckworld with quite a few pics when I was doing it. If you have any questions feel free to ask as I will try to help out as best as I can. :glasses10:

Thanks.......if I need any Q's answered I'll let you know. I don't plan on using any aftermarket kits though. I'm going full custom on it, with coil-overs and probably a 4 link, maybe a 3 link.....we'll see. The leaf packs will go on the rear with some limiting straps.

I had to get a high pinion.....................if I wanted to re-use my gears and locker from the TTB. Trust me, I already did the research, and yes, they'll fit. Was there another reason you were curios if I got a high or low pinion?

I also got A Ford 9" out of the deal. I've been throwing around the idea of cutting the tubes and realigning the diff to the right specs on the drivers side to make a 9" front axle..................but that'd be too much work I think.

i would like to go HP 44 in my front and 9" in the back. i've got a rear 60 right now so if i get a HP 44 front i will have to change it to eight lugs.
there's some good tech on Pirate on how to make a front 9/60. thats a 9" with D-60 axles and hubs.

Got link????????????
I remember reading about "flipping" a 9 to make it a high pinion. The big problem is that the pinion bearing doesn't get lubed? It would be interesting to see if someone has worked that one out.
Since it hasn't been stated: The significance of a high pinion diff is to maintain driveline angles. The shorter the driveshaft, the more pronounced the problem. The higher the lift, the more pronounced the problem.
The other thing to remember is that the high pinion is not as strong as a center cut or low pinion. I think the difference is between pushing or pulling the ring gear?

Yeah......there's problems w/ ever design aspect really. However, I made it to and from Moab in one piece, so I don't think the 44 will be to much of a problem. As I stated before though..........if and when it does explode on me, I'll probably design something out of the 9" for up front.
