OK so I've got vonage phone service... occasionally has issues, but nothing too major... but today hardly anyone can understand anything I'ms aying its very very choppy service... so I reconfigure my network to take the router out of hte picture (just in case that is causing issues) and recycle everything even unplugging my cable modem, etc. I do the upload/download speed tests and all the results are way above the minimum. So I have done everything I can think of to do, I give up and call their tech support number.
Some guy with a VERY thick indian accent (as in speaks indian, knows some english words) picks up, I can barely hear him phone service is so choppy... he says "I'm sorry I'm unable to hear you clearly, please call back on another phone" and hangs up.
Well if I had another phone, this wouldn't be an issue would it? This normally wouldn't be a problem except my cell phone service at my apartment already sucks royally, so it would be just as choppy if not mroe choppy than my sucky internet phone service. If I call from somewhere other than my apartment they'll tell me I have to be there at my apartment, so now I'm pretty much Screwed.
**** YOU VONAGE!!!! NOW IM PISSED!!!

ROFLMFAO... Now thats funny shit... Hey, do me a favor, call 911 and see if you get some schmoe sitting at a desk writing reports instead of an actual 911 operator... :rofl2:

yeah yeah laugh it up chuckles :). If Qwest didn't have so many bullshit sign up, moving, installation, etc. fees I'd sign up with them again but since I'm moving in a month... no sense going throught eh hassle just to go through ti all again.
The worst part of all of this is while I was doing troubleshooting (on my own, no thanks to Vonage), by checking for bad cables, bad connectors, etc. I did something to my knee because now that is killing me.

Or if you'd have pulled your head out of your ass the first time and called me to do you shit you would have avoided all of those STATE REGULATED fees...

Kind of like your direct pay never working, again, if you'd have called me to set it up I would have taken care of it... Jebuz, I even work on commision, you'd think you would have called a friend just to see that he made the 80 cents in commission!!!

BTW, I have no sympathy for your situation!!! But I will set your service right if/when you pull your head out and move back to good old copper wire!!!

maybe when I move... LOL
Like I said at the time, I appreciate the offer but I shouldn't have to have a friend in the business to make sure I get treated right by Qwest. but hey since I'm moving and havent yet decided on many things like cable, cell phone service, etc. maybe qwest will get another shot.

Heath

It shouldn't be that way with any company... But unfortunatly its that way with ALL companies... Friends on the inside will always treat you better than the regular rep you get on the phone...

Qwest treated me very good when I set up my cell phone service.

Jeff as I recall you never paid the $35 set up fee or paid for shipping on your phone did you???

04-19-2006, 09:18 PM
Hey jeff, hows your cell phone reception with qwest? Just curious... I'm currently not under contract... thinking of possibilities... :)

Heath
04-19-2006, 09:22 PM
BTW Matt... I can bring your cell number over to Qwest... And one the home phone I can do a winback and waive the activation fee w/o even pulling any strings... I can also waive the cost of your phone service and any features you want for three months... You'd just have to pay the taxes...

mattadams
04-19-2006, 09:31 PM
That'd be cool... :). I'll let you know as time gets closer. What's the difference between directtv and the qwest tv? Are they both dish? Most apartment complexes won't let you have a dish or they'll have strict rules about which ones you can have... hence why I went with comcast originally...

Heath
04-19-2006, 09:34 PM
The Qwest TV is only offered down in parts of Highlands Ranch in CO... Up north you'd be with Direct TV, and yes thats a dish... We just signed up with it and so far we love it... If you do want it just make sure you have a way to mount it so you can have a SE facing dish... So keep that in mind when picking your apt...

mattadams
04-19-2006, 09:38 PM
ahh ok that makes sense. Might have to stick with comcast for cable then... most apartment complexes say if you want a dish it has to be attached via a pole in a concrete bucket, etc... blech! if I had a house might be different... ahh well, lots of choices to consider :).

Hey jeff, hows your cell phone reception with qwest? Just curious... I'm currently not under contract... thinking of possibilities... :)

The reception with Qwest has been really good. Before I had Verizon and was using an LG brand phone. I was so pissed, I paid over $200 to get out of that contract and switched over to Qwest and I'm using a Nokia phone. It's been a night and day difference. I switched about 8 months ago.

Heath

I don't remember you getting a Nokia phone from me... What model is it???

Walking Eagle

Walking Eagle

Shit, your right it's not a Nokia phone. It's a Samsung.

Heath

LOL... I didn't think so... You have the Samsung A680, same phone I used to have... Tara is using it now... She loves it...

Land Lines? What?

mattadams
04-20-2006, 08:41 AM
yeah for telecommuting I gotta have a land line or at least non-cell phone, since I talk on average about 3 hours per day on the phone all long distance. I'd be over my cell phone minutes the first week even if I did get good coverage.

I've been with Qwest wireless since it was known as "Airtouch." Never been tempted to go elsewhere and - despite Qwest's issues (transfers of service always seem to create all sorts of problems) - I'm happy with them overall. In fact, when Amy's contract with Verizon expires in July, I'm going to add her on to my account. Might even use the push-to-talk feature (although she hates it! LOL)... :)

Heath
04-20-2006, 09:03 AM
And Chris, who are you going to call to get that added to your account???

MMPC
04-20-2006, 09:36 AM
Someone who knows what the hell they're doing? I'm not sure. At Qwest, that's a difficult prospect...

:D Just kidding, big man.

Heath
04-20-2006, 09:42 AM
Thats right... Keep talking little man... Revenge is best served cold... With a drink in hand, in front of a crowd, in December!!! And boy do you turn red when you blush...

BTW, yes I can make money on it when you buy business stuff too, as long as you call me first!!! So anytime you're buying business stuff let me know...

so I tried calling them through my work phone to see if there was any troubleshooting I could do once I got home... spent about 3-4 minutes going through all their prompts, putting in my customer number, etc. then it put me on hold for a minute or two and said "there is no one available to take your call. Please try later" and hung up.

Matt,

I've had to deal with them as well, and if you turn the tables and they can't understand what YOU are wanting they will send you to an English-as-primary-language person. My guy sounded like some guy sitting at home. I had to call a while back over a number porting that never happened/virtual number fiasco. I have a few different numbers through them for work and home. Otherwise, I can't complain.

Sorry Heath, I didn't know you were THE man to talk to. :(

Well as it turns out I think it ended up being a comcast issue not a vonage issue. I emailed Comcast and explained the issue, and thought there might be some disruption in internet service. They had me do a flush of the dns information in my network and then not only did the speed go up but I was able to make clearer calls as well.
