What would you do if you havent seen your neighbors since Saturday afternoon....Their pitbull is still chained to the tree. Your not sure if he has any food or water.

If the critter is friendly, I'd go give it food & water.
Is this the first time it's happened? Maybe keep an eye out for the neighbors and a concerned note on their door. If it's not the first time, animal control?
Just my .02 1/2 cents :)

They're home. Yay!!! I hate having neighbors who treat there dog like this and where we feel we need to be concerned. Mayve we're too sensative; I dunno.

I'd be pissed. First off because I hate people that have dogs they HAV eto chain up and I hate people that feel that chaining up a dog outside exposed to the elements is a reasonable thing to do when they leave for days at a time.
I think if it happens again I'd call animal control and let them know, and if they say they won't do anything, say the dog has been barking, then they'll have ot od something... even if they don't sieze the dog (which I doubt they would) at least there will be a record that these people suck as owners.

Me too! Lucky my neighbors have pets also. We watch out for each other all the time. It's really cool when you can do that.
Edit: FWIW, no one leaves thier pet out all night.

Next time you could do a "welfare check." Just go knock on their door and see what's up. "Hey I haven't seen you for a few days, and I noticed your dog has been out here a while, (if that's not normal). I just wanted to see if you're okay." It's simple, further more if they were not around, you could atleast give the animal some food and water.

Gather up a bunch of old pots and pans, some plastic tubing, gallon jugs, automotive fluids and old cough medicine containers and go dump them on your neighbors back porch. Then call the cops from a payphone with an anonymous tip that there's a meth lab. As they de-con the place the proper authorities will be called to deal with the dog. :)

I'm pretty sure they're moving as the large Trampoline and 4 broken cars have been removed from the back yard. Anyway, they have been by every afternoon so the dog is taken care of. Problem is they've been leaving at night. The dog knows they're gone, gets terribly lonely and barks ALL night long.
If the dog is friendly, I would have cut the chain, taken him home and let them figure out what happend to him. And when they did show up(if ever), I would have asked why they were worried about him now and not when he was chained up for 3 days while they were no where to be found. Just my 2 cents
