I dont know how the hell I got talked into this, but there is a midnight tour of downtown denver in a few weeks, and somehow I got talked into biking along for it. Stupid Chris... LOL.
I haven't ridden a bike for more then a mile or two since I was 15. We'll see how I do!

No kidding, now he drives a Buick and rides a bicycle. By the way Matt, how are you going to keep from scraping your feet on the ground? I need to see a picture of this, because what comes to mind is big puffy red hair, a honking nose, and large shoes.

Ouch...
I can't believe I talked Matt into it either! Are there pigs flying around outside yet? :D I'll know when I've really succeeded when Matt starts another new site - RMBTC - Rocky Mountain Bicycle Touring Club.
No, I think this ride is going to be a blast. Just imagine of thousands of cyclists cruising around downtown Denver at about 1am. Others should join! There's even a no-holds-barred costume contest at 11:30pm before the ride. (I tried to convince Matt to ride in the "Harry and the Hendersons" costume he wore one Halloween but I have to choose my battles.) Heck, if we got enough RMFTC people, we could join as a team, LOL. Put little blue ovals on our bikes - okay, maybe not...

Oh, there will be pictures taken, trust me. :D In the meantime, I'd imagine it might look something like this:

(Hey, Kerry's 6'4" so it's close... But Matt will look much better, I'm sure)

Do they make bikes that big? Might have to rent one of those old time bikes with the huge front wheel.
What're the details on this here bike ride? I don't know how far I could even peddle my fat ass any more. It's been a good 4 years since I've done any major riding. College graduation = hang bike in garage, take truck everywhere.

Those are freakin funny, the chick on the motorcycle, I'd like to see how that ended up. LOL...
That last movie with the woman on the motorcycle is hilarious! :D I haven't done anything quite that bad...yet. The link Up2myLbowsNmud posted is the correct one for the ride. C'mon guys, it's going to be a blast! Nothin' like getting some exercise, drinking copious amounts of alcohol afterwards and staying up all night - woo hoo! LOL

Do who remembers who her idiotic counterpart was that was picked up on a warrant because of the news spot???
Matt gets his bike!!!
Yes folks, the tall man went and did it today - I was a witness! He purchased 25" of rugged mountain biking goodness - a 2004 Giant Yukon. :D Congrats, Matt! Now you realize you'll actually be expected to ride it, right?
Here are some pictues from his "test ride:"

yup, I wasn't so sure about the yellow color at first, but now I'm down with it.
Yeah, I have to admit those pictures don't really do the paint job justice. The one below is a bit better - but still not great. In person, it's a very nice looking bike.

Make sure you don't get your jeans caught in the chain. I had the unfortunate pleasure doing that in college. At least it was at night and nobody was around.

They used to, I called and its now under new ownership. That and they didn't carry my giganto-sized bike. lol.

How fitting that it's made by Giant! It Looks like a nice bike. Are you going to take it camping?
I just took the training wheels off my daughter's bike last weekend. They're sitting in the garage if you need to borrow them Matt. I think the pink would give your new yellow bike that ricer look as well.

Clavos, not only is it a Giant brand, its a giant bike, your right! LOL. It's funny, most bike companies that I was looking at make up to about a 21 or 22" frame... Giant lists on their website that they make up to a 23", but this bad boy has a 25" frame, some sort of special order or something that the bike shop says they typically have like one a year just on the off chance that some freakishly tall dude comes in. That's why yellow might not have been my first choice, but having one in stock in my size is a big thing :).
It's like cars, I can't look at cars and find one I like and hten see if I fit in it, I have to see which cars I fit in first, and then decide which ones I like otherwise I"m disappointed when I can't get the mustang because I dont fit in it... :)
Are you going to take it camping?
I think Matt and I are both hoping to bring our bikes up - as long as we can find a safe/simple way to get them there. A hitch rack won't work for this trail - talk about banged up bicycles!
Heath

PUt them in the back of someones truck
Yeah, that's the thought. Pop the wheels off, wrap the frames up in some heavy blankets and off we go. Just have to see if there's enough room for them once the trucks are fully loaded...
Heath

For the love of god man its a bike, its made of metal, not crystal!!! Toss it in the back and go...
Maybe you could talk Dave into throwing them up on his roof rack. Maybe that'd grab a little extra firewood for ya on the way up as well.

I paid enough for the bike that I'd rather not just "toss it in the back". Maybe if I bought a Huffy at wal-Mart for $100, then I'd be ok with that, LOL. not that the bike won't get abused, but I'd rather it be by me biking it rather then just tossing it in the back. LOL.
Maybe you should have the bike line-x'd too, then you won't have to worry about that.
Heath, get yourself a good bike (i.e., non-department store) and you'll understand. ;)

Exactly... :D I'd rather tear the shit out of it by riding, not in the transport. Plus, they have really nice paint jobs... LOL

How tall are you Matt?? Im 6'6", and i have a feeling from reading you are just as tall, if not taller than i am....i really think you should have tried , or atleast gave thought to tracking down the old Pee-Wee Herman bike from the movie, that bike was the cadillac of ghetto jacked bikes...

Glass, I'm about 6' 8". Good to have another big boy in the group, LOL.
UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE!
As I type this, we're just under 4 hours from the Moonlight Classic! Wish Matt and me luck as we join 5-6,000 other riders to prowl the streets of downtown Denver in a 20-mile ride! :D
I'll try and get some good pictures and post 'em tomorrow...
What great weather for a bike ride last night - woo hoo! :D That was a very cool ride. We went from downtown out to Monaco and Leetsdale, from Cherry Creek Mall to DU along University, down Evans to the Wash Park area and finally back into downtown riding along the 16th St. Mall.
Congratulations to Matt on his first organized bike ride! We completed the 20-mile course - with 5,200 other cyclists - in about an hour and a half at an average speed of 12 MPH - not bad! I think I got home about 4am to blessed sleep...
Here are a few pictures I snapped:
http://www.users.qwest.net/~mountainmediapro/Images/moonlightclassic/cyclists%20line%20up.jpg
Lining up on 14th Street - it was wild to look around and see bicycles as far as the eye could see!

Some damn good BMX riders did some demos before the ride. Amazing stuff!

jeez, I just woke up, LOL.
That was a fun ride though. i did much better then I expected. My goal was to finish ahead of SOMEONE in the ride, not that it was a race, but you know, you don't want ot be last! As it was, we finished before a LOT of people. in fact we got to the finish line, went and stored the bikes at AChris's Explorer, walked back from some breakfast, had breakfast, walked around "admiring" a bit, and as we were leaving, there was still hundreds of people coming to the finish line.
It was definately a great ride, I'm a little soar today. Thanks for talking me into it though. LOL.
...walked around "admiring" a bit...
OMG, some of the ladies in lycra =:D And that's a good thing, LOL.
