I'm trying to troubleshoot why the page is loading fairly slow... I'm not sure if its because of all the images I've set up like the background diamondplate, gradiant header/footer images, etc. or if its something on the server itself.
So, how long would you say it takes you to load an average page?
Also, what ISP are you using? (dialup, qwest dsl, comcast...)

Sometimes less than a second; occastionally as much as 3 seconds. Qwest DSL. Right now I have two Remote Desktop users working over the connection and I'm streaming audio so I expect a bit of lag.

Yeah, I was gonna ask you about it. The first several days, it loaded fast like the other boards I frequent but about 5 days ago, it seems to take forever to load pages.

It doesn't matter if I use Firefox, IE, or Netscape. I have cable & work has DSL & at both places, I'm experiencing the slowdown. I was gonna ask you if there is a default skin I could use for me but I don't see that option available anywhere like some other boards have.

It's not a real big deal though if it stays like this, I'm just so used to the pages loading in a couple seconds on the other boards..........so it made me wonder?

Ever since we switched to the new forums, it has been taking probably 15 seconds on the Comcast broadband at home and the Qwest dsl here at work. But, tonight here at work it's only taking a second or two. I've not been on since yesterday morning, so I will have to check when I get home later tonight and see if the speed has picked up there also.

At home now, and load times are faster. They are loading in a few seconds.

I think it is something with the server or host. It has been even slow loading the home/main page, not just the forums. I have noticed this at work and at home. Seems to be better now, I would say. :twocents:

I tried stripping off the images to see if that would help... let me know what you think. If it does help I can make two skins, one with the images and one without for the people who its going slow for.

ok Chris said that sped things up for him, so there is now two styles options if you go into your options... "Less Images RMFTC Style" or "RMFTC Diamondplate". The default should be Diamondplate but if you notice its going slow try changing to less images and see if that helps.

Yes, since the images came off, it's faster - but still doesn't seem as fast as it did before the switch. But before the images came off, it was taking as long as 30 seconds for me (on Comcast) to fully load a page (with graphics, icons, etc.).

Ya'll should keep in mind that the CBS streaming of March Madness over the Internet is slowing the Internet as a whole.

The diamondplate is taking 3-5 seconds to load. This is from work so we have multiple OC48's.
