I thought I would start a thread just for Cabelas since it seems there is some strong interest. I've never been to a Cabelas store and I've heard they can be an interesting place to shop. My recommendation is to do a carpool up to Sydney for a day. I also think one of the weekends before Thanksgiving would be good so we can do some Christmas shopping. If we go before Thanksgiving, we might miss some of the Christmas crowd. What are peoples thoughts on this?

Hey who gave you authority to close threads? LOL Just kiddin!
I'm down with Cabelas idea, like I mentioned in the other thread, I'd prefer the Kearney Cabelas. It's one of those things you can head out early, take about 5 or 6 hours to get there, spend several hours shoppin around or just looking around, then another 5 or 6 hours back. Is it worth it? Tough to say. I always enjoy the trip, theres a lot to look at even if you decide not to buy anything, and theres also some good bargains to be had when you go out there. Depending on how many people want ot go we could either take one or two trucks or whatever, could be fun! :). I bet my mom would let me take her Explorer, that fits 4... relatively comfortably, LOL.

My mistake, Kerney works for me as I don't have a preference on which one we go to.

oops, I said Kearney but I meant Sydney. man my mind aint all there tonight!

"They are quite different. The Sydney one has a huge aquarium, hundreds of stuffed animals on display (no, not teddy bears! LOL). The one in Kearney has an aquarium, but nothing special... and only has about 20-30 animals on display."

Matt, I took this from your post on the other thread. This is what's confusing me. Is the Sydney store better or the one in Kearney?

Walking Eagle

Now I'm really confused.

yeah yeah... I know. OK, Sydney is the best place, lets go there. Kearney is smaller and not as exciting. not as much to look at.

I was under the impression that the Sydney store was closer too. 5 or 6 hours? I've never been there, but I don't think it should take that long or did I miss the post about going by covered wagon. LOL... j/k.

Maybe Matt is still counting on the bad tranny only allowing him to go up to 2nd gear.

From all the times I've cut up from 76, I don't remember it taking much over 3 hours. Maybe 3.5 from further south where a lot of you guys would be coming from, but 5-6???? I think Matt was hittin' the bong a bit early last night.

hey now, its been years since I've been there, my times coudl be way off. I have no idea. Plus when I went I went with my parents so it was probably speed limit mostly the whole way LOL.
It wasn't a bong, it was a macroeceonomics book. Both will mess with your mind equally however!
I just checked mapquest and it said 3 hours 5 minutes, so you guys were right... now get off my back. LOL.

OK, OK, maybe back when the speed limit was 55, and with the 5 potty breaks for Matt, and from the complete south side of Denver, during rush hour, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

As for the Macro - don't even mention that crap to me. I've done my time, and don't ever plan to go back to school unless I'm forced. But I feel your pain, I went through my first frosh semester as a Mathematics major. Translation - Math sucks.

You can never have enough ammo, except I may be selling the gun.

mattadams
07-27-2004, 02:13 PM
Niels, what kind of gun are you selling? I have a case of ammot hat I haven't been shooting or else I'd pick up more when I go out there... you can get them in the big military cans that are great waterproof containers for all kinds of great stuff! :).

I have a Smith&Wesson model 457 compact .45acp. Not sure I'm going to sell it, but I may need some cash and it sits around and collects dust.

You can never have to much ammo. I don't know if I should say this, but I have not held anything else back. About 6 months ago my dad had to go down into the basement to check on the heater. I got home from work and he asked me if there was something we needed to talk about. He was worried about the number of boxes of ammo that were sitting on a couple of my tables.

Thats true... We do figure next time it happens it'll be Matt... Hey Matt, maybe you'd better just ship me that box of Ammo, just go and buy what you need for shooting...

Between my brother's .45 and mine, I only have one box of ammo. I also have 250 rounds for the 10/22 and a box for the .308 plus two boxes for the 12 gauge. I think that should secure the average household from most types of invasions. LOL..

We just got back from going to Wisconsin for a family trip. On the way back we stopped at Cabelas in South Dakota. What a GREAT idea by me! :) They had a tent sale going on where everything was 40% off the marked price. So I found some snow boots that didn't have a price I go ask the guy how much and he asks me if $20 sounds good, I said heck yeah! After all these were regulary in the $120-150ish range! We got those plus a light duty sleeping bag that was listed at $19.99. The final price after they marked everything off an additional 40% was $25!

You guys have to watch to see if they are having a tent sale and maybe even call up there once ina while to find out. GREAT deals! You can't beet these deals either. :)

Gang-
Wondering if anyone had given any more thought to this. Xmas is coming, and I'd like to find up if we're going as a group so I can plan. Maybe we can go next weekend or something?

Well next weekend is toys 4 tots, and the following weekend is thanksgiving, but I'd be ok with trying to go the weekend after that?

I'd be down but my only day off is Saturdays. I've been to Cabellas once before. My friend flew us down in a Sesna and we used the airport ride to go to the store.

I had one of the execs from Cabelas in my bus the other day. I was trying to get a club discount thing together, but she told me they don't do things like that without serious paperwork and legal rigamarole.

Heath
11-15-2004, 07:42 PM
Hey, if there are two things Matt can do its grow hair on his ass and fill out paperwork for discounts... Should have gotten a card from her...
