View Full Version : Where to buy online 4x4 gear?

Besides 4 Wheel Parts, does anybody know of online stores to buy basic 4x4 supplies? I'm thinking of things like tow straps, jacks, D-rings, etc. I stopped by 4 Wheel Parts this morning and they were out of some of these items. I found this to be very discouraging for a 4x4 shop not to have the basic essentials.

I get a lot of those things from cabelas.com. Their prices are reasonable and their shipping usually arrives within three business days from the order.

That's a good idea. I'll have to check them out. I like their website. I've bought so much camping stuff from them I probably own stock.

I've always wanted to go to one of their stores. That could be a possibility this winter for a short little RMFTC road trip. We could car pool up there and check it out.
I've been watching the price of these on their website for about two months. I check just about every day waiting for a sale. I want the 10x42.

Do brands matter when it comes to recovery straps? I've seen prices as low as $40 to $100 for a 3" x 30 ft @ 30,000 lbs. 4 Wheel Parts website had a $20 difference between two brands.

I don't think brand matters at all, just the load rating. I would definately be up for a road trip to their store, and rumor has it that they may be building one over in the Applewood area. I too could own stock in them, and as a reward, I just recieved a hard back limited edition catalog. Its about the size of a phone book, and goes nicely in the drawer in the bathroom.

How much do you have to spend to get the hard back edition of their catalog? That would be cool to have. I've spent tons of $$$$, mine better be gold plated.

This is going to be all day thing shopping on the net. But looking at different sites, there are some outrageous prices. I don't know how some of these places expect to sell anything. A simple thing like a D-ring/shackle, some places want $50. You can get those for about $12 at other places.

I have no idea how much I've spent there over the years, but I used to work with a guy who got a leather bound hard cover catalog.

Im definately up for a road trip to Cabelas! I remember going to Cabelas when I was about 8 with my dad, at that time it was a single location and it was simply a 2-story warehouse type place, its definately expanded since then!

Maybe Cabelas is something we can do around the 1st weekend in December? It would be a great time to do some Christmas shopping.
Which one are you planning to go to? I've been to the one in Sidney, the one by Kearney, and the one in KC.
I usually stop once a year on a trip out to NE/IA to see family.

I've been to the one in Sydney and the one in Kearney. The Sydney one definately kicks Kearney's ass, though I did get a good deal on some winter botos at the Kearney one, in the bargain cave! :).

I was thinking Sidney, because it's the closest, but I don't know if the stores are different since I've never stopped at one.

They are quite different. The Sydney one has a huge aquarium, hundreds of stuffed animals on display (no, not teddy bears! LOL). The one in Kearney has an aquarium, but nothing special... and only has about 20-30 animals on display.

I've never set foot in one of their stores, so the closest one is fine by me.

I've closed this thread and started a new one just for Cabelas.
