Checking to see if anybody has been up in the hills in the past week or two. I'm thinking about going up Saturday to find out at what elevation the snow is still covering trails.

ugh... I wish my truck would get fixed so I can get it up there again. As it is now for saxon meetings and trail runs either gonna have to ride shotgun or take dads truck :(.

I did not make it yesterday, because I had some financial things come up. But I did hear the area around Saxon Mt. and Spring Creek still had snow even though people made it to the top by breaking trail thru a foot or more of snow. It sounded like it would be like this for another couple of weeks.

sounds interesting. I've had really bad experiences with snow-breaking and I prefer to not even try it.

I have to adjust my rear wheel bearings and replace my rear brakes before I do more than regular commuting.

Yeah, I went out 2 weekends ago, and wasn't brave enough to try that. We turned around and went for lunch instead. Sure was nice scenery though (more so than usual).

Tried to take Medano Pass between Westcliffe and the Great Sand Dunes National Monument about two weekends ago. Found out the hard way that the pass was still closed by the NPS. Still a nice scenic drive though. A little bit of snow still on the ground. Also took Phantom Canyon Rd between Cripple Creek and Canyon City. Nothing hardcore, but cool little day drives.
