I put new Warn premium hubs on the other day. When I went out to try them out, eveything seemed fine until I made my first turn, then there was this loud popping from both hubs. At least it sounded like the hubs. My CV loints look OK, so I'm not sure if that's it, but I'm at a lose. I took them back apart, and everything looked OK, so what's the deal? Has anyone experienced something like this w/ the TTB and new hubs?

I had my old explorer kind of pop occasionally when the hubs were engaged. Were your hubs engaged or just installed? I never did find the cause but I think it was related more to something in the transfer case or something.

one my fisrt time doing hubs, the old ones were blown so i put it together the way i took it apart . the hubs completly blew apart so i thought those large springs went on first but found out that they belonged inside of what was destroyed. trashed the spring worked fine

i wonder if they are locked some how and the popping is u-joints.

I looked at the u joints..............there's no play in 'em, but that's what I was thinking. The new Warn hubs have zero room for error.........they only go in one way. As far as I could tell, the spring sits externally to the hub body. The hubs are definitley locking, but it's that popping when they're engaged and the wheels are turned. I don't know, I'm just gonna have to bite the bullet and take it to a shop to get looked at. Ugh!

are you doing this on dry pavement? because if so it's going to pop no matter what.

When I had the original hubs in, and in 4x4 I never had a popping quite this loud or often. But to answer your question it was on asphalt, then right to a 6' ledge up in dirt. It was even doing it in the dirt..........

I am experiemcing this same problem on my left front tire area. i am assuming it is a hub going bad or a front u joint.

by chance have you replaced your bearings yet ? they will pop, with only my 35's i have to replace them once a year. my offroading kinda forces me to, even on the trail

so the front end popping was my carrier's spider gears! I got some good pics! Fortunately, the new locker assembly was an easy replacement.
