So I'm not utilizing that ugly dark blue/grey color scheme Matt created a while back..... Instead I'm using subSilver...the old scheme. However, I get the stupid Phpbb icon in the upper left and all the other Ford icons etc are gone. What gives??

Thats one of the reasons I created my own theme... because everytime PHP (the software I use for the forums) does an update (and it does it automatically without my knowledge) it overwrites all the images and so forth, so I got the "corrected" ones back out there. Hopefully that'll fix your problem, thanks for letting me know.

So it happens automatically somehow? So I'm not Crazy!! I sware on all the sites I visit that use this software, the Submit and Preview functionality is backwards. When I'm done typing, I could hit tab-enter and it would submit but now it does Preview. It's been drivin me nuts

I just use the standard phpbb settings, I haven't modified those or anything (nor do I have the knowledge to do so if I desired to... LOL). The upgrade actually gets done by my hosting company who thinks htey are helping me out I guess, I have asked htem not to but they say whenever a new version of phpbb comes out they automatically update it to make sure everyone on their servers is running up-to-date.

So is this why I have been having to log in a lot more? I have the "remember me" box checked but it seems like lately I have been having to log in a lot more.

I dont know why that is... its been doing it to me too... been looking into it but been real busy with some other things...

by the way, if you notice the site being slow, in addition to other problems, apparently someone has been spoofing @rmftc.com to send virus infected emails. While it appears the addresses are totally random and not anyone I know or anything, I just got 8,500 emails returned to my email address, so who knows how many were actually sent out.

Glad to hear it. heath says he is having problems logging in as well but I think that ust could be because hes a dumbass.
On the other end of the lovely spectrum, I woke up to 4000 more emails this morning, all reected from bad email addresses, god I hope this stops soon, I set my mail server to reject these messages but apparently its still bringing in emails from yesterday for some reason.

Even a dumbass can hit the login button, type in a 5 character user name and 6 character password!!!

Heath, if it continues, try this. Go up to tools, internet options. Under Temporary internet files, do "delete files". If it has a checkbox for delete all offline content, select that as well, and let that run.
Also, its possibly your cookies got a little bit ocnfused or something so you may want ot delete your cookies as well (right next to delete files is delete cookies). It's usually a good idea to do that every other month or so anyways, as malicous cookies can stock up and slow your computer down, yada yada.

I've been having the same issues :(

I haven't had any problems :dontknow:

edit- actually, I take that back... I just went to the main rmftc.com page and went to the photo gallery and nothing showed up, it just said "Coppermine" and there was nothing else

Surprisingly I haven't had any issues. I do have to log in every Monday, but that's just because they 'tickle' all of the machines here every week and remove everyone's cookies, printers, backgrounds, extra software, and who knows what else they do. Bastards, why can't they just leave me alone.

rino, the galleries are currently "down". The photos havent been lost, but I'm having some troubles getting everything set up the way it was before and still complying with certain security regulations, yada yada. When I get them set up again, I may have to have people create a new sign-on, as before I was having it share the phpbb forums user database, and they think that may have been where the vulnerability was.

Hey Heath/Urban, just got a curiosity question for you. When you are done with RMFTC, do you close the internet explorer window, or do you just leave it open? I have been doing some looking into the issue and it looks like in the new versiont hey have a "time-out" feature that times you out after a certain amount of time. I can't find the setting to disable it, but I am looking into it still.

UrbanCowboy

Internet Explorer? What's that? Anything like Firefox?

It really depends but most all day I keep the browser open so I can jump back and forth between forums and not have to re-login.

mattadams

do me a favor... try and close out of "FIREFOX" or "MOZILLA" or "INTERNET EXPLORER" or whatever hte hell you are using after you are done on RMFTC and see if that helps. From looking into it, it looks like there is a 60-minute timeout so if you aren't active for 60 minutes, it logs you off and you have to log back in.

UrbanCowboy

How would closing my browser prevent me from being logged off? I would suspect it would have the opposite effect. As I explanied, even if closing my browser had a positive effect on RMFTC, I'd deal with it as opposed to having to login to forums 200 times a day as I surf for 8hrs.

mattadams

the idea being that if you are logged in for more then 60 minutes, it logs you off, forcing you to log back in. If you just leave the "remember me" box selected, then you could close out, get back on to the forums and it would still have you logged on. It's when you leave the browser up, and times you out and logs you off and you have to log back in that its a problem. Just a thought, I'm not for sure if that is it or not, but it doesn't happen to me... LOL

Hmmm... I usually move on to other sites I think... Never really paid attention...

mattadams

ok well I changed the timeout... so see if that makes any difference.

Heath

Cool, thanks for getting rid of that... So far when I opened up Firefox tonight I was right on the board...
