Don't get me wrong, I support the idea of clubs and I support the idea of trail preservation, etc. but I looked into joining the Colorado Association of Four-Wheel drive clubs, and I absolutely can't believe there restrictions for clubs. Basically its $10 club fee, which Im fine with, no biggie, bu theres also a $20 per vehicle fee. So if fo rexample 10 people were really interested in joining and getting our club associated with this group, it would be $210! Am I the only one this makes no sense whatsoever to?
That and there rules and bylaw requirements are way too formal. I'm all up for some rules and so forth but they want you to spell out a constitution for your club, have election meetings, a formal election, bylaw meetings with a final bylaw sheet, yada yada, seems a little crazy to me.

First off I’m a member with them as an individual. I have my little sticker on the corner of my windshield. I don’t receive anything as in the way of benefits, like discounts at any of the 4x4 shops. I believe they are an unorganized group. But I still send in my annual dues if it will help keep trails open.

I do not think we should join them as a group. One of the reasons we set up our little group here at RMFTC was to do things more or less the way we want things to run. Basically from what I interpret above, in Matt's post, is they are in a non-direct way telling us how to set up our organization. I don’t think it’s beneficial to set up bylaws/guidelines to join with them. The only thing I can see being beneficial is gaining exposure for RMFTC by being listed on their website.
