If anyone is cheap like me and looking for a way to save money on at least one thing in life, I did this:
Called up Comcast, said I had been with them for at least 3 years and asked if they had any discounts or deals going on because my husband was thinking about going to dish. He asked what kind of deal dish is offering, and I said "I think 29.99 for 6 months". Yes these were small lies. Long story short, we now have 6 months of our basic cable for $19.99 instead of $41.99. He had other options too, like discounted digital or a free cable box for 3 months. Something about them introducing streaming video and hdtv after the new year. I still am surprised when I find out that companies can cut deals like this, even when I do it at my own job. Then I call Ryan at work to tell him of my accomplishment. He is patient with my dull life. lol
As for Cingular, my 2 year contract was up and she told me when the billing cycle ended and that would be the end of my service. The service has never worked at our house, but I never fought it. Apparently when my number switched to my new provider before the end of the billing cycle, around 7 days before, I was smacked with the $175 early termination fee. They also sent Ryan a letter saying that since his phone was on a shared plan it automatically went to a $40/month single plan. That's how I found out about the termination fee. My only option is I can pay the reinstatement fee, they'll waive the $175, pay for another month of service, then cancel both phones (again). I know none of what they told me is illegal or a huge surprise to maybe some people who know better, but I still think it's crappy. I don't have the energy anymore to keep going round and round and sit on hold with them again.
Thank you for reading my customer service praise and vent. Just wanted to join the trend here.
