we love you, silly. Come back anytime. Heck we'll see ya at the Christmas Party again :).
I think there was an earlier post about transfer cases but if you are looking for a "used/cheap" transmission, then pull-n-save will probably have what you are looking for, but you'll have to pull it yourself of course.
We used to get a discount on transmisison rebuilds, but I believe that company went out of business because I drove by the other day and there sign wasnt there anymore.

i could probally rebuild it myslef.. although the only experiance im going to get with that is tonight... i can rebuild auto's pretty well, but i kinda want to avoid having to rebuild my old one myself. but from what i hear thats what its going to need to be any good. never let a friend barrow your truck!!!

Dont feel too bad, yours lasted apparently a lot longer than mine did. Mine went out at about 105,000 miles and I had to have it rebuilt. Talk about a pain!
I know every now and then you see some trannys on craigslist (denver.craigslist.org) that can be picked up locally, but you kinda need ot know the exact model number and stuff to make sure you dont buy the wrong one.

yeah my truck has like 270,000 on it, but i know the person who had it befor me had it rebuilt within the last couple of years, but i kinda wounder how long ago it was, cause ud think they would replace the clutch... and the clutch was slipping when i got it, so there really is no telling. if i fix it ill probally put a center force in it..

the equivalent of your tranny is a T-5 transmission. I think stock its something like a 5R55E? I don't really remember, but I'm almost positive that a T-5 will swap in perfectly. You might want to ask JuBean, as I believe he is putting in a T-5

I think it's the same tranny as the 4.0 isn't it?
as far as getting one, I had good luck at CO auto parts on Santa Fe

A 5 speed manual trans in your year of Ranger will be a "M5OD" built by Mazda.
I don't know of anyone with one. Like suggested above, salvage yards is probably your best bet. Some places sell reman units but they're usually around $900 exchange.........too pricey in my opinion.

I'm not sure, I haven't played around with the newer stuff. If it is a Borg Warner 1354, it might work in yours but don't hold me to it :D Do you know if your t/case is a 1350 or 1354?

T case is the 1354.. guy with the 2000, wants 400 for the tranny and T case. and a guy in the springs wants 150 for tranny and t case out of an 86 bronco II, from what i found out today that probally the mitsi tranny.. and looking up the 2000 4.0l had an MSOD and i saw one thing on it that said M5OD.. hmm??? if its the same tranny used on the 2.9l and 4.0l in 92, id think that it bolt up, and id rather have one out of a 2000 then out of an 86...

The 2.9 & 4.0 are essentially the same engine but........There seems to be some discrepancy in using the Mazda trans from a 4.0 on a 2.9 & & vice versa, something to do with input shaft length is different. Let me do some research on it today & check with my gurus on that info.

Okay, here's the scoop I got from the couple of gurus I know.
The M50D from a 4.0 OHV (not a SOHC 4.0) will fit in place of your M50D that is currently behind your 2.9. They say there is no compatibility issues with the input shaft. This is provided that your truck actually has the mazda trans & not the Mitsubishi trans.
Your current t/case should bolt up to that newer tranny according to them. They also say, if you're going to switch t/cases too, you'll need to swap a 1350 for a 1350. or, a 1354 for a 1354. Also, some 1350's are electric shift so that needs to be replaced with the same type unit unless you have an electric shift t/case & you want to intall a manual shift t/case. swapping a manual to electric requires a transfer case control module & wire harness.......too much hassle for a crappy eletric motor that will go out someday when you need 4wd.
