For those that didn't join us, i thought we had a good time with two of the representatives from the forest service. We put up a few carsanite (sp?) signs which said no motor vehicles, yada yada, picked up a bunch of trash (including a washer that i carried abck all the way in the truck, LOL. We also took a tree that was blocking the trail and the forest service cut it up out of the way, and some other little side things. i thought it was a good time :).

Correction they cut three trees that were crossing the road. Except for having to drive the truck back to Denver stuck in 4 wheel drive and taking the long route through Evergreen and Morrison, I thought it went well.

Ok, before anyone says anything, I know it's not a Ford, but that's what was in front of me, so that's the pictures your going to get of some 4 wheel action.

Sorry I didn't make it. I had to spend the day helping my dad (an effort to try and persuade him to buy me some racing tires). I would have much rather have been there, believe me. Why does it not surprise me that while work is taking place, the picture shows Matt standing there with his hands in his pockets? LOL. Happened to me once when I lived in Albuquerque, only the picture was on the front page of the paper. The boss was not happy.

Somebody has to give the Prez and our founding father a hard time. Glad you guys had fun!
For doing a bit of work, it was a very good time. I got some good video/interviews for use in a possible RMFTC promo video as well. :) The Forest Service guys were both good-natured and put up with our crap - LOL. Glad I went and look forward to the next time...

yeah I think the work we did was nothing major, at least it made ya feel good about doing something on the trail everyone loves, right? :).
Hopefully next time we'll have even more folks show up, as well as for our camping trip. I think for our camping trip we might head up from Idaho Springs instead of Georgetown...
it was ok not enough air for me, with the work and air i thought i was going to die. but it was allright too bad i had to pass up the offshoots i seen one that i wanted to hit but.

Good news, I finally got the truck out of 4wd this morning.

Jeff, what'd you have to do to get it out?
Cory, I think I know the offshoot your talking about. It's a little obstacle but nothing big. If you want some wheeling, next time we go up there I've got the trail for you to take. It'll beat the shit out of you though! LOL. It's actually right past that spot where you honked at me and asked if we were heading back to town or whatever...

I wish I could have made it. When do you suppose another trip up there will be?

That depends, there is one fairly major project that we may be helping out with, it is a fence around a marshy area up there, I'm working witht he forest service to determine they might want that done, etc. but we may also go up there camping hte first or second weekend of august (the same marshy area is also a pretty good campsite!)

To get out of 4wd, I just kept the knob and shifting out of drive. It finally went out of 4wd after about 5 minutes this morning.
no problem but i will have to make a few repairs first ,i have the parts just gotta put them on and i will have to go through clear creek canyon next time that 300 of mine doesnt care for all that interstate hill climbing.

Jeff, that sticky 4x4 could be some dirt in there from that truck wash you hit by Central City. Of course it could be a vacuum leak too.

The 4x4 thing has been going on for about 6 months, but in the past it has been hard to get it into 4wd. This time I could not get out of 4wd.

Alright, scratch the truck wash theory. I haven't done much with the 4x4 system on your type of truck, but I know the hubs are vacuum operated if you have the auto hubs.

I do know I have auto hubs.

I seem to recall that problem from my explorer days, theres a part that is fairly common to have it go out in the auto shift transfer cases, like the motor that engages the shifting or something. One of the reasons when I was looking for my truck I looked long and hard for one with the floor shifter.
