I recieved an e-mail today from ebay stating that they regret to inform me that my ebay account will be suspended due to misrepresentation of identity, yadda-yadda. I forwarded it to ebay and they responded that it was a "spoof e-mail" in an attempt to steal my identity. If you recieve anything similar, contact ebay immediatly, and DO NOT give any information to the link listed in the e-mail. ebay stated in their reply that they will never send an e-mail requesting personal information.

yeah I've received those many times. And the address will be like cgi.ebay.guatamala.com or something goofy like that. I've also received similiar emails from companies spoofing paypal, my discover card, and others.

yeah a good rule of thumb I've always used is if someone calls you or emails you asking for personal contact information, never give it out. Because no bank will call and ask for your customer number, nor will ebay ever need your password verified to let you continue using the service. If it seems real suspicous, just call the company or email their main customer support, and say hey is this legit. You'll find it never is. :).

Just ignore it all. If it's for real, they'll begin calling and hounding you. Works for a whole lot of things. Bills, mortgage, etc...
