Who is interested in making the run up there October 1st, Saturday? The leaves should be changing color and we can get in one more run before it starts closing due to snow.

I'll be up for it.

I'd be interested, but I will be starting a new job next week, so I may have to work. I'll let you know as soon as I find out my schedule.

I have a big dinner that night (meeting the GF's parents) so I should be raring to go let off some steam up there and hopefully be stuck until the wee hours. LOL.... I'll let you know for sure after I get through with the track this weekend.

ok Jeff bailed... but at least he had a good excuse :). If there isn't sufficient interest, we'll just try this again some other time... If people still want to go though I'm still into it. Think it'll be a great trip...

I think I'm in, which means it will probably be cancelled.

What time are we thinking? I may be able to go, but have to make sure I'm home in time for my wife to go to work.

if you two are in (and possibly niks) than I'm good with going :). I jsut don't want to be by myself. Tray, what time do you need to be home? Depends how quick of a trip we make of it. If we just go up and jet through the trail, etc. we should be done in about 2-3 hours, if we stop occasionally to look at things, etc. it adds to the time from there.

Well I need to be home by 4 or 4:30, which is normally not an issue, especially on a trail like Saxon, but I just would rather head up early, and allow extra time for those unseen circumstances.

ok well if we meet at the lake at 9 or so, should be no issue at all.

What side of the lake? I've never been to Saxon before, but I can be in GTown at 9:00.

usually we just meet around the center of the lake, where the big dirt lot is. 9:00 it is.

Sounds good to me.

Niels, Jeff brought up a good point. I don't know how much wider a super-duty is than an F-150, but there is one fairly tight spot on the trail where a boulder landed to the side of the road. I've gone through it several times, and I'm pretty sure you'd get through no problem as well, but just wanted to let you know, I don't know how much wider a superduty is than an F-150 but can't imagine its more than a few inches.

Actually I just thought about it and we could always take it the other way. Technically the switchbacks on the georgetown side are "'optional" as they are actually county land not forest service land, but its whatever you are comfortable with. It's a bouncy ride either way you go :).
I may bring my truck, I'd like to get some pics of it with the changing aspens.

The super duty is actually 15mm wider than the 150. I don't know how much that is in real measurements (like inches), but it sure sounds minimal.

ok should be no big deal then. I'm not worried, either way is cool with me.

Just picture your 15mm wrench, Tray. Thats not very much at all.

After thinking about it, I've barely got time to get things done on my truck prior to SEMA, much less fixing any damage that might occur. Tray or Niels, will one of you have a seat available for me, maybe even catch a ride up to the mountain with ya and I can chip in on gas or something.

I'll have room.

Let me know where your new place is, and I can swing by and pick you up on the way.

What time? 7:30ish?

Cool... my address is 10355 Dover St. #1223, its right at Wadsworth and 104th (NOT Wadsworth and Church Ranch, its confusing, LOL) across from Stanley Lake High School.

Also, depending on what you guys want to do, we can either have lunch when we get off the trail or do the sack-lunch deal. Either way is cool with me.

Tray

It's not confusing when you grew up in the area LOL, but I know how it could be for someone not used to it.

As for lunch, I'm up for either.

mattadams

well I suppose we can always pack snacks or something for if we get hungry, and head to beaujos or something for lunch :).
Niels, whats your take?
Niks, do you know yet if you'll be making it?

I'm up for anything, do we need any implements of destruction? Or any other tools/equip?

mattadams

I usually find if you can bring along some shovels or something thats good, but we shouldn't need them, Jeff said our signs are still intact :).
Just garbage bags but I can bring those. If we find a meth lab up there, I'll just report it to the forest service rather than try to clean it up myself :).

Hey Tray, 7:30 or whenever is fine with me. I'll have my cell if you get lost or anything :). 303-868-8265

OK, sounds good. I'll be there about 7:30, and I'll take your # with me in case I can't find it.

How did yesterday go?

mattadams

went well. Picked up a ton of trash. Trail seemed to be in pretty good shape and as you reported are signs were still there (always a good thing). Got off the trail in time for Tommyknockers for lunch! (BeauJo's was PACKED as I figured it would be)
