Cory and I are going to go check out Middle St. Vrain and Coney Flats trails. We are leaving the Denver area at 9am. Never been on the trails, but they are supposed to be relatively easy. I want to check out the locker, give it a test run.

Anybody is welcome to tag along.

Well since Robb is wanting to go wheeling this weekend, maybe we will tag along. I'll ask him about it later, he may not want to get up that early since he has to close at work Saturday night, but we will see what he says. The is if you don't mind a Jeep tagging along. LOL

Why would Robb lower his standards by selling his Ford and then buy a Jeep?

It's alright, my sister and her boyfriend may be coming along in his Scout.

He decided that he wanted to go 4wheeling more and needed something that would handle the trails better than his truck. So, he found a 97 Jeep Sport with a 4" lift and 33" tires. He said that he has always wanted a Jeep. Jeeps aren't that bad, I love my dad's Jeep.

Anyone know if that is a narrow trail?

Ranger has not seen off road in nearly two years, but I dont wanna get in too tight of a spot.

Alright so what's the plan? Robb and myself would like to go. We need to know where to meet and exactly what time.

First off, just giving Robb a bad time about the Jeep. I own one myself and so does my dad.

Tony, the trail is near Nederland. When I have time later this evening, I'll post more exact details.

As for the trail being narrow, I don't see that being a problem on this trail. I've not been on it before, but from what I've read about the trail I'm not worried.

As for meeting spots, I'll have to get back to you on that later this evening.

Think I can make it in the Metro? I'd love to come, but can't even dream about filling the tank in the truck the way things are right now.

I say we meet at the exit for Church Ranch Rd/104th Ave. off of Hwy 36. We'll meet at the AMC theater. If your coming from the Denver direction when you get off the hwy, the theater will be in front of you. The parking lot should be empty at 9:00 in the morning.

I'm leaving the house in a few minutes to go see if I can help Cory with a last few minute items with his front axel. He was replacing some bushings yesterday afternoon, that Big O Tire wanted $400 to do the job, but we ran out of daylight and we had no extra lighting. He's hoping this will fix a steering problem he's having.

Today was a pretty good day. It was Cory and his family, Nikoll riding with Robb in his Jeep, and myself. The trails were fun and little more challenging than expected, but that made the day better. At the start of Middle St. Vrain, I thought it was going to turn into a crappy day before we could even get started. Right at the begining there are a few boulders to climb over. Robb and Cory went over easy, but I could not get over the damn things. Could not figure out what the heck was going on. Here I'm trying to test the new locker and I'm starting to get pissed. It turns out my 4x4 problem resurfaced. The indicator light was on, but the front wheels were not turning. Kept trying to shift in and out of 4 wheel drive, but nothing was happening. Finally I backed up, turned the ignition off, restarted the truck, then 4 wheel drive turned on.

After that, the day was good. Robb got high centered on a boulder, but the two Fords showed him how to do it.

My driver side step came off back in May doing Chinaman's, well the passenger side came off today on Coney Flats.

The locker made one heck of a difference. Rocks in the past where I would give it little gas to get over, the truck just crawled over.

Oh, Cory we need to teach your family when using the camera and video camera not to stand behind bushes and trees.

Yes we got high centered on a boulder, but I thought Robb did very well considering this was only his second time 4-Wheeling. Gotta give him some credit for that. This was a harder trail than either one of us have ever been on and probably not the best trail for a novice. I thought about taking my truck but now I'm very glad that I didn't. Thanks for letting us tag along and maybe we can all do it again sometime after we get alittle more experience. LOL :D

It was fun and the two of you are welcome to come along anytime.

Matt, I did a trail write up last night, but it was late and I'll need to go over it and then I'll get it to you.

I don't know about Spring Creek that trail looks like a little more than we would like to do. I think we might stick to the moderate stuff for awhile.

Well Cory I would be cool with going if I new the rating on the trail.
If I go it would be like the 25th. Had a blast up on the last run. I think if I had more time on trails I wouldn't have go stuck but we all have to learn some how. I'll see if Nikoll want's to go. I can only go up on sundays since I work 2 jobs and if it has wheels or a skirt I can't afford it. Just glad Nikoll doesn't wear skirts LOL.

If hes talking some of the trails around st. marys glacier, you could do em in 2-wheel drive, unless theres some spurs I dont know about... :)

Walking Eagle
09-07-2005, 11:16 PM
Yes, the main trails are easy, with spurs allowing for some testing.

Sounds good to me. If you want to do it on the 25th we are game. Nikoll might be working but we won't know till that week but I'll go with you guys. Let me know if the 25th works if so then I'm in.

So far it sounds like I might actually have the 25th off. Have we decided that we are going to do this run on the 25th? If so, and as long as my schedule doesn't change, then I'm game.
