So I went to Utah and picked up a 78 Firebird Trans Am over the weekend. It took 1 hour/$25 to fly out there, and took 29 hours/$370 to drive back.

Trip Summary
Gas, Oil Change, 2 Hours at Checker Auto Parts, 300 Miles and Tire blows out (3 hour repair), 6 Miles and electrical completely dies, Overnight hotel, Fix Electrical, Drive 200 miles in terrible rainstorm, 50 miles home. Car has vacuum and carb issues the whole way. The result is that we have poor breaks (power assist not working) and the car dies every time you stop giving it gas.

Now that is cool! I've always liked that body style. Are you gonna restore it?

Depends on your definition of restore. My goal is to make it look as much like the Bandit as I can for as little work and cash as I can. First I need to get the performance going, then I need to do some body sanding and repair (new hood), then a cheep Maaco paint job and go from there. I wanna make it look nice but it's not going to be a show car or nothin. I'm pretty excited about it though.

Definately a cool car. A $40 dash mat will take care of that cracked dash no problemo. Worked wonders for my Porsche.

Yeah! Well that Escort that Devin has now would beat all a ya'll ! Its the lightest of the four... "Ahn dat ting gauht ah Hemi!!!" (We are talking about pushing the vehicles during this race right? Not actually having them move under their own power.)

I'm guessing the porsche is lighter than all of em. And as long as there are lots of corners, it would be a contender, but on the straights I'll watch your taillights dissapear. LOL...
