Ryan's trying to get this run organized on the Explorer forum. & it seems like there's only a few folks going.
Cory, your Bronco looks like it's up for this..................Wanna go?
The upper end of this trail makes Chinamans Gulch look like China Wall. Ground clearance is a MUST for this one & a locker or good tight L/S is strongly suggested.
The folks that are going are gonna be camping near the trailhead. Me, my wife & daughter, Jason, & my brother are gonna stay in a motel in leadville & meet everyone at the trailhead that morning when Ryan decides on the time to start.
I did this trail last year on the same weekend & I was wondering what was so bad about this trail...................until I got to the upper portion.
If you're not scared of body damage and/or any other kind of damage, please apply :D
Me, my brother & my buddy Jason will be trailering our trucks up there. If anyone breaks something & needs their rig trailered to their home, any one of us can do it for ya.........provided all of us don't break at the same time because all of our rigs are street driven. We're just trailering incase of "what if I break something".
Any victims..................er, I mean, takers?

I tackled holy cross a few years ago and made it past french creek, with the use of my winch only LOL. I might be up for going, but obviously not in my truck.

How far away is Holy Cross. I might be interested. Nothing a little bondo and paint can't fix.

OK, so my IFS Ranger would be dead meat on this one, and the Bronco w/ carb does not dig inclines. Anybody got space I could ride shotgun/spotter on the trail?
Cory, Rino?

Gonna have my wife daughter with me but my buddy Jason should have room in his Sploder.......I'll check & see for ya.
He's runnin' 37" Iroks & it's locked front & rear. Matt rode with him through Chinamans.

Rino, if you guys have one, I'll certainly try to make it! I havent seen Rick and Char in at least a year, I suppose I'm due for my Char fix... LOL.
I wonder if Don might know of a place, he practically lives in Leadville :).

I want to go, but know my truck couldn't handle it, and I don't think I can talk my dad into letting me borrow the jeep.

I know Cory and I are thinking about doing Wheeler in July, but we both can't get Friday off since our jobs overlap.
I've done Mosquito Pass in the CJ, it's fun, great views being above 13,000 feet, but none technical, except hard to pass oncoming vehicles. Most of the summer there is a snowfield on the Denver side of the pass.

Still don't know if Kristen and i can make it yet or not Larry. If my dad goes over to Gunnison that weekend we can't make it, and there is also talk of branding some late calves also. If you've got the hotel info for Leadville, pm it to me just in case.........

I was just talking that over with my brother about what he thought about it, and we were thinking of bringing up the grill, and having burgers and brats for a group dinner. I see that as being the best since it's cheap and can accomodate alot of people.
That's the best idea I have so far.

My plans have changed, and I am staying at whatever grocery store or other parking lot that will allow it. I was hoping to maybe have the grill-out at Rick's campsite, he is staying at the Sugar Loafin' RV park in Leadville.

OK, let me know any more details as they transpire. I will try to be there. Maybe I'll plan on coming up and finding some new scenic spots... see what I can find... and I can meet you guys at the campground. Can't stay late, don't have the dough for a nights stay...
