No, not really, I would have called AAA first. My fuel light came on this morning when I first left the house for work. I drove to work, did a couple errands while at work, and tonight drove home planning on stopping at the same place I always do. I was about 2 miles away going up the hill on Federal just south of 84th and the truck started to sputter. I would never have made it to the Shell gas station. I just made it rolling to the top of the hill at 84th. On the flat surface I could get a little more gas and rolled into the Safeway gas station on the corner and filled up. It took 24.631 gallons.

I got mine almost that empty one time. Mine was sputtering just as I was pulling into the gas station. Not supposed to do that! :).
I had 5 gallons of gas in the toolbox though so its not quite the same :)

It's common for me to run 30 miles once the light comes on and still have a couple of gallons left. For some reason I did not pay attention to the mileage this morning. I did not think I had driven that much extra today.

Back many moons ago, my ranger started sputtering on a forest access road. A gallon of 2-cycle chainsaw gas did wonders.

jeff, just FYI, mine was about 55 miles from when the light came on to when it started sputtering. I was driving through nebraska, and was on about 1/8 of a tank and was going to stop in a town for gas but saw their prices were real high so figured I'd just catch the next town... about a mile past the exit, realizd the next gas station about was more then 50 miles away, and right about then is when the low fuel light cam eon, LOL.

I had a similar experience in Wyoming when I first got the truck. I had the truck for about a month and was driving from Cheyenne to Laramie. Shortly after leaving Cheyenne, light came on and I was headed into the notorious Wyoming wind. I was sweating bullets.
