I know this is a ways away, but I'd like to get it rolling as soon as possible.
I think this is a great way to showcase our trucks (well, 10 of them as that is the maximum) in a parade, for less cost then your average car show.
Western Welcome Week Parade is in Littleton, Colorado. Cost to enter would be $100, so $10 per vehicle, for those that enter. I'd like to see the best of the trucks in the parade (and a variety of trucks, for example some f-150's, some SUV's, some lightnings, etc.), and each person in the parade would be responsible for paying the $10. I would like to know, who would be interested in having the truck on parade, would be willing to pay the $10, and would be able to get at least some RMFTC.COM side window stickers, preferably a windshield banner, to help showcase the website name/club name at the same time.
I will probably have a vinyl banner for the club that I'll put on my truck, and I think it'd be cool if theres more then 10 people interested, if the other folks could pile into the beds of the 10 that are driving, wave to the "fans", etc.

I think it's a great idea, but you should also choreograph some crazy dance Matt. Make people REALLY remember the club! :D Anybody can enter a parade and drive down the street, it's the memorable clubs that actually DO something! Perhaps we could throw some cheap "gimmies" to the crowd (something dontated to RMFTC from a sponsor, for example?), air cannons that shoot confetti, etc.

We should have a brainstorming session during our next meet. As Matt said, this is a long way off, which should give us all time to come up with something creative and memorable...

Unfortunately, everything you recommended is against the rules, LOL.
It states on www.westernwelcomeweek.com that candy, pamphlets, etc. can't be given or tossed to the crowd, they don't even recommend people walk along shaking hands or anything, and anything that impedes the flow of the parade is prohibited. Those bastards! :)

I'd love to drive. I should have more custom angle-iron body armor on and I can make sure to have my 33" tires rollin.

hell yea, count me in for sure. I guess someone will hafta determine if my truck is nice enough though I guess. The bed of the truck is a flat box that people could easily sit on as well.

We still need to try for the Arvada Harvest Festival parade as well. (you can throw stuff, dance, shake hands, hand stuff out too).

It probably will come down to how many people want ot be in the parade. If only 10 vehicles want ot be in, then we're set... fi there's more, maybe we'll have to take a vote over who thinks should be in or something.
Tony, have you got any more info on that festival/parade? I tried searching online and didn't find much.

tony1307

well I am at work right now, so I guess between playing on here, AOL, TV, and stuff, I can look :)

OK. I played around on the arvada city council calendar page. It looks like the Parade will be Saturday morning, September 10th.

I sent them an email asking for details on how to get entered.

Also.... do you think it would possible to somehow incorporate MORE of our trucks (if more than 10 are interested) and enter a 2nd group of trucks with some MaxFund signs? Maybe even a cute puppy or two in the trucks. 10 trucks for RMFTC followed by 10 more for MaxFund would be cool to see. And the drivers of those trucks would pay the 10 bucks, and MaxFund would be represented free to them. Also, I have a little utility trailer that someone could pull as well. If we wanted a bigger sign or something for either group. I can't pull it now, after the lift.

I'll talk to MaxFund, and see what they think of it. Not a bad idea! I know in the past they've done parades but they generally walk with the dogs and stuff...
I got the Arvadae Festival put on the calendar. Hopefully osme info will come about and we can start planning!

mike, its a long ways until the parade, hopefully we'll see your truck before then :).
You can check out the gallery feature here, at www.rmftc.com/gallery/
You have to create an album for the truck, then you can upload pictures into the gallery.

I would be interested in the parade, and no problem with the $10. If something came up and I couldn't go then someone could go in my place.

mattadams
03-18-2005, 07:33 AM
mike, looks good! :). I guess we'll have to see how many people are interested when it comes time because I dont want ot tell anyone "your in the parade" and then if too many other people come along, ahve to tell them they can't be in, yada yada.
I've got 5 trucks in mind that I for sure want to see in the parade, if they want to, mainly because of the diversity, etc. but I don't want ot say who they are... LOL.

Bassdudes 76( i think its a 76 atleast) would be kick ass in the procession... Corys Bronco would be cool to see in it too...

Mike, I'd definately be interested in having at least one super duty.
I debated over posting who I'd like to have in the parade, because I don't want to seem like I"m playing favorites or anything, and I really want it to be up to the club, but here's my votes for a few vehicles:
My truck (duh!)
Jeff Bakke - not only is he my VP, but hes got a nice lifted truck that sees the trails occasionally.
Cory - shows the extreme wheeler side
hottruck108 - the custom painted lightning.
bassdude - shows the older more classic trucks.

That's not to say those 5 trucks will be in, etc. but thats just my personal preference. There's others I'd like to see in there too... at this point its wide open.

I'd say you'd be a good choice for a ranger... but if I had to choose a ranger, man that'd be tough, theres some great ones. I think it'd be between you and warrlord. That's just my personal preference again though, not trying to say whos going to be in, etc.

tony1307
03-18-2005, 09:40 PM
well, Warrlord's ranger kicks ass...

But I have more color. LOL
Actually, I need to do my paint job/stripes before I say anything good about my color.

just kidding, I won't be here for the parade

mattadams
03-18-2005, 09:53 PM
oh yeah, Explorer... I'd like to see ahhjaws' explorer in there. Have you seen that beast lately? Oh man...
Again, just personal preference. Still up int he air.

mike
03-18-2005, 09:59 PM
well i didnt know everything was about favorites,if you know the ones you wanted you should just ask them, and not ask for other trucks.or be more specific about what you wanted.

mattadams
03-18-2005, 10:04 PM
ugh, thats why I've tried clarifying time and time again, these are just my preferences, it doesn't mean those will be the parade or others wont... just ones that I think show off real good and show some of the diversity of the club, and the mods, etc.
Guess I shouldn't have posted my preferences at all. I don't want people getting offended or anything.
Today is apparently not my day for not pissing folks off.

so what? i cant be in to parade!!! wtf is this?? im starting my own club!!!! its gonna be the straight stock, rusty ranger club!!! lol J/K i understand what u want! and why u want it! i agree, nice trucks and deversity sell better then a bunch if trashed off roading machines!

mattadams
03-18-2005, 10:52 PM
LOL good luck starting that club Smoothy, LOL. Thanks for the support though.
Fact is its a parade and I'd like to catch peoples eyes. They'll see lots of trucks there towing floats, towing trailers, etc. I want to give them something they wouldn't normally see on the street, some unique trucks.
Oh well, there is a quite a bit of time left to decide.

Yeah, Well I'm going to start the Rocky Mountain Grocery-Go-Getter-Glorified-Station-Wagon-Psychotic-Soccer-Moms Suv Club! Yep, the good 'ol RMGGGGSWPSMSC. I figure if I make a windshield style sticker It might fit on the side of a '50 trailer. Seriously, If you need me for the parade, I can enter my Explorer. The ten bucks won't be a problem and I can make time on most weekends. I'll try to get some pics up so everyone can see it. I hope to have a lift and 33's by then. I see your point about entering the best show trucks from the club, however, I would suggest putting some mildly modded or even a stock truck or two in the mix. It would let people know that we're an all-inclusive club and not just for the elite builders. Just a suggestion though.

hi Raylcc i understand what you mean.i guess i should of worded my response differently.(they say sh-t doesnt stink unless you stir it.
im still intrested in parade if needed.i think my 3 kids would enjoy it too.

RayLCC
03-21-2005, 05:53 PM
I was thinking my kids would enjoy it too. What about pulling a small trailer with a banner on it (I know, this has been discussed before here's the part I'm adding) and putting makeshift benches on it for the kids and people who don't get to drive to wave at the spectators. Maxfund could even put a few dogs or cats or whatever on the "float". Maxfund gets a plug, the kids feel special and everyone gets a ride.

mike
03-21-2005, 09:05 PM
sounds good.well just have to see what the organizers say.they might not have room for a trailer in our group.doesnt hurt to ask.

I asked the event coordinator, and she said if we go as an auto club, trailers/floats are not allowed. Those can be registered seperately, but they have to be paid for seperately.
The other thought I had, if we have a lot of interest, is we could register twice and have 20 trucks. But I don't want to pay for it if we don't have enough folks come.
I would also like to see some stock vehicles, depending on how many trucks show interest. As of right now, sounds like we've got about 10 or so folks interested, so if thats allt hats interested, no arguments, we're all set.

Cory, no, in fact I'd like you get it muddy before hand if possible :)

Matt, why don't you find out who wants to be in it put all those names into a hat and draw names. Nobody gets their feelings hurt and there are no favorites. Just an idea. I am interested, if my truck doesn't get picked I'll just ride with Jeff and have a giant picture of him stuck on saxton mountain! :D

Is Saxon Mt. cleared of snow yet? Once and for all I'm going make it this year under my own power.

Glass
03-22-2005, 02:40 PM
Weve had 3 snowstorms this week....so it is probobally snow packed again. But, a few weeks ago, i went 3/4 the way up it from the Georgetown side...it was pretty entertaining, exciting, and going down the Pure ice and glazed snowpack switchbacks i barley made it UP was an experience...It would have been really easy to take the short way down that day. Next week ill check it again, because were supposed to get more snow tomorrow, all the way thru the weekend, but if it warms up nice again....it should be passible soon.

I bet its passible with all 4 chained up, and in 4-lo right now. Theres a few boulders in the trail that required decent clearence / flex, or evasive and delicate maneuvering....As for the Idiot Springs side...I have no clue how it is from there.

I would be interested in this possibly. I am about to start lifting my truck another 4 inches and it will have a total of 16 inches of lift then. So it may be tore apart when this comes around.

Tray
03-24-2005, 09:28 AM
Not that my truck is parade worthy, but I deal with enough traffic everyday that I don't know if I want to voluntarily put myself in a situation to deal with more rush hour style traffic.

I may end up road raging and running down someone's float or something.
