View Full Version : Who'd be interested in being in a parade?

Just a thought I was having the other day as they were talking about the St. Patricks Day parade (of course I missed that one already, but theres lots of parades in Denver for this and that...), I thought it might be a cool way to show off trucks, get a little club recognition out there, and wave to screaming fans like celebrities! (ok maybe not that last part).
often at these parades theres a charge per vehicle, but it is generally pretty low. There's also some instances where we could use our trucks to cart around guests of honor, etc. and that'd be cool too.

So, hypothetically, who would be interested? Yes, you'd have to wash your truck :)

Sorry, I'll have to pass.

J/K. I'd be interested but I doubt we could have all our vehicles so we would have to fight over who got to drive in the parade and chances are you would always win and that would suck. :)

SO HOW WOULD THIS SUCK? MATT HAS TO DRIVE LIKE HE'S SANE, AND WE SPEND OUR TIME IN THE BED DRINKIN' BEER, WAVIN' TO THE CROWD AND THROWING CANDY AT KIDS. DOESN'T SEEM TOO HARD TO ME (MIGHT HAVE TO PUT OUR BEER IN A CUP, BUT HEY, WE ALL HAVE CROSSES...)

Actually, a lot of times you can get lots of vehicles in there. The PT Cruiser club in town had like 38 PT Cruisers in the St. Patricks Day parade.

Can we 4 wheel over the floats in the parade? Or maybe run down a few spectators?

I have always wanted some good media coverage. That isn't exactly GOOD media coverage, but is coverage nonetheless. LOL.

I like the drinking in the bed idea. Much, much better than driving my truck around. I nominate Matt for Designated Parade Driver.

Throwing beads to girls that show boobs and stuff? LOL.
As long as no one pukes in the bed... LOL.

sounds good so far, offroading over floats, running over innocent bystanders, drinking beer in the back of a truck, while throwing beads for girls to show their boobies...
I'm in.
LOL

Whatcha think? :)
http://www.westernwelcomeweek.com/events/parade.asp

The only catch is it costs $100, and they have a maximum of two vehicles per registration, ugh. Still worth thinking about though...

Sounds fun....

Also might wanna check out the Arvada Harvest Festival parade. One of the largest there is.

Yeah, I was thinking the Parade of lights... but thats not until near Christmas time, bu something to consider then.
Thanks for the Arvada Harvest Festival idea, I'll check that out. I've got two potentials, they are both in August. The Western Welcome Parade as well as the "Lakewood on Parade" in Lakewood. I know theres some July 4th parades as well that I"m going to try to find.
The problem with Parades is they can be a bit costly to enter, LOL.

Depending on how much I would be interested, of course my truck isn't as nice as Matt's.

mattadams

I swear if I hear one more person say "my truck isn't as nice as Matt's though" I'm gonna paint it back to teal and take everything off, LOL j/k.
Seriously, it doesn't matter what mods you have or don't have, etc... if you like showing off your truck, thats what counts!
By the way locster, I saw you again this morning, get into your truck... next time, look over to the apartment complex and look for a tall goofy lookin dude walkin a yellow dog, LOL.

I'd be willing to do it once I got my lift and tires on. Right now my truck looks like the weapon of choice for rampaging soccer moms. Too stock. It sounds fun.

Hey Matt, I'll try and remember to look over there. I usually get out of there at about 5:30, if you want to venture over to the other side of the parking lot, I would for sure see ya.

Slap an RMFTC.COM sticker on this one .. and I'll drive it through a parade! http://www.specialtycarlocators.com/rental-336.htm

Hey Matt if we do this, what about a sign on the door with the club name? Also if it would be alright I would get a sign made up to promote my business, if it was okay with you and everybody else.

mattadams
03-17-2005, 07:56 AM
If you wanted to have a magnetic sign or something to be made up, that'd be fine, it'd have to be at your own expense though... I have the standard vinyl stickers for the windshield, etc. and that's probably all I will run. At some point I will be purchasing a club banner, that I might drap over the front or something.
As far as promoting your business, it depends on what the business is. You aren't offering hitman services or anything are you? :)
**Just for my own clarification though, what do you have in mind in regards to promiting your business? If its something like a sticker or something, it would probably be ok... if your talking like a full-sized banner for your organization or something, I'd rather it be a mainly RMFTC thing, and there not be a lot of confusion about what the trucks are there with.

locster31
03-17-2005, 11:23 AM
No we don't do hitman services, but that maybe a good idea to offer.
Actually the business is Decorative concrete coatings. I did think about the magnetic sign idea. But I do see your point about confusion.

If theres a 2 vehicle limit on a particular parade....Can I recommend one 4x4 truck, and maybe one lightening.....Just so people know were not an offroad club, and that were a "Ford Truck" Club?

yeah, not a bad idea there...

mattadams
03-17-2005, 02:06 PM
I just heard back from the LIttleton Western Welcome Parade folks, and we could get up to 10 vehicles in the parade, for abotu $10/vehicle.

crazy rob
03-17-2005, 02:33 PM
Dom, I bet we could, only if I had a couple thousand dollars laying around. Maybe one day.

smoothengagement
03-17-2005, 02:55 PM
i thought it was for $75??

mattadams
03-17-2005, 03:02 PM
yeah but I'm greedy and I want some money to help with the cost of the banner, LOL. It's $75 for the group of 10, and I think asking each person to help kick in $2.50 to help with some of MY costs isnt' too bad, especially since I'll be running around town to do applications, parade this, yada yada...
I know, I'm a greedy, selfish, bastard.

When did this breakthrough come about??? Did you have a therapist or was it a self-revelation??? :D

I think that's a reasonable amount to ask for. This is a club after all - not one man's venture. Being part of a club is about sharing the costs as well as the benefits...

I'd be willing, but I'd rather ride with someone. Sorry guys, not showing my boobs though, but you could still throw me some beads LOL

clavos

I never thought of that, could be fun to ride along. I know my truck is nowhere near parade material.

mattadams
06-11-2005, 08:18 PM
yeah, I think it'd be cool to have folks in some of the beds of the trucks that are in the show... or just passenger... waving is good :).
